GE Cafe versus Jenn Air Premier Line Pro gas range???
Comments (3)I have the Jenn air pro style all gas slide in range. It's been installed for about 3 weeks, only, so I cannot speak to long term reliability but so far I love it. Great flexibility with the burners--one dual burner (high output -low output/simmer), one very high output burner; one simmer and one moderate size. Rangetop cooking is much improved over my old, nice but basic GE gas cooktop. Oven is great. It seems to work like a dual fuel since the convection function works with an electric element and the bake feature works with gas. The electronics are complicated but I used to have a GE double oven that also looked like it could launch the space shuttle. I had to have the GE control panel replaced for $$$. So, for this one I bought an extended 5 year warranty that covers everything. I can only say: so far so good with the Jenn air range. I really like the flexibility, it cooks fast ...the performance has been good so far....See MoreGE profile double oven gas range vs. GE cafe double oven range
Comments (5)I went with the Profile double-oven gas: here are my reasons. I like the smaller-size top oven for daily use, and the lower oven will only be used on occasion, so I'm ok with its location. (There's no room for a wall oven in my tiny kitchen -- and I have no plans to tear out cabinets and rearrange.) I'm a good cook, and I honed my skills on low-end domestic ranges because that's what was available: I don't need a commercial range to cook what I like, and I'm too busy with other aspects of my life to change my cooking style now. I also prefer not to deal with "pro" level BTUS and the ventilation complications they might add. I also am not willing to give up self-cleaning ovens -- which puts many pro-style ranges out of contention. I liked the slide-in setup and the angled control-knob location on the Profile, so that, and the price advantage, led me to choose it over the Cafe. Re: price, I bought mine from a local dealer, and I got the price down a bit by asking them to meet the ajmadison.com price. They didn't quite get there, but I was willing to pay a little extra for local sales/delivery/service reliability. Everyone's situation is a little different, but I found that the Profile slide-in fits best with my kitchen and the way I use it....See MoreCan't decide on 36-inch Capital or 30-inch GE Cafe range
Comments (5)Are you using NG or propane? I was set to buy the GE Cafe but decided on the Capital for the following reasons: The BTU loss when converting to LP was significantly greater for the GE Cafe than other ranges. The GE Cafe's center oval burner is only 6,000 BTUs, and the other burners are various sizes. The Capital has 4 equal size burners, and if you opt for the 5th burner the center is a high power (25,000 BTU) burner. I don't use it often but it's nice to have MORE power rather than less! The fit and finish on the Capital is tops, it is built like a tank. There have been some complaints about Cafes being delivered dented and whatnot, though that may have been addressed by GE since then. Love love love my Capital range. My only complaint is that the all-one-size burners can be a bit too large for the 2-qt saucepans that I use, and I have to keep the heat turned down so it doesn't go around and up the side of the pan. The GE Cafe has the advantage of the 2nd oven, if that's important to you....See Morege cafe 30’’ slide in gas range with double oven
