Please show me your DRAMATIC bathrooms

Hi again. We're about to redo our very, very small (even by NYC standards) bathroom. The other two are white and fairly simple but I think I'd like to do something bold for the tiny one. So, if you've done anything bold, sparkly, funky, colorful, etc., etc., I'd be delighted to see your bathroom. Many thanks.

Oh my...there are SO many spectacular bathrooms in this forum! You've come to the right place for inspiration :) But, when you said "bold and sparkly", pharaoh's bathroom came to mind. Hope he doesn't mind me linking to his bathroom :) I've got some sparkle in mine but I get the impression you're looking for a more modern look. When compared to monicakm or pharaoh's photos, our Powder Room update is modest - but it's bold in color and modern. Some before and after photos are linked.

I need to see some, too. Karezz, would you post yours? I think I'm going with subwys and stain but the floor?? I'd like hex but I don't want to keep it clean so was thinking at least 12x12. What did you do? I also can't decide between ORB and white porcelain/ceramic do dads. I did find and strip some old wire coat hooks that were here and there all over the house. I can't imagine they are original because they look ORB now that they're cleaned of several coats of paint. Those same colors were everywhere in this house! Did they buy a 5 gal. pail and paint everything? I found the original kitchen door using the layers of paint detective work. But back to the bathroom. I am going black and white.......today.

Weedyacres...here you go. I wish that I put a cupboard below, but originally the toilet was going in that nook and it wouldn't have worked. The other bookcase is on the other side in our bedroom. This was empty space because we pushed the tub up to give the toilet more room. I hate dead space, so I put the shelves in. It ended up that there still wasn't enough room for the toilet...bad measuring on the part of the plans. This room was done in two parts, so it was hard to get a good feel for the space until all the plumbing had been roughed in and walls of the old space were taken down. I guess this is more than you need to know. I haven't figured out what will go in the shelves yet.

fyi, the rims can be painted after installation. Charliedawg, our plugs are perfect. With the lakeview, fireplace, tv, open kitchen and arches to DR and foyer, there is really only one natural place for our sofa. I knew we wanted to put a sofa table behind it, so we left room for that and enough room to walk between table and the cedar posts at the kitchen opening. The electrician said there was no rush since the plugs were going into the main level, which is second story, so we were able to wait until house was framed to decide exactly where they were going. DH and I used empty boxes to place where the sofa and measured to make sure there was enough room behind for table. (You can see the two cans in the kitchen we didn't need :( ) Here is a link that might be useful: Great room

Your bathroom is lovely. And I agree it looks very clean and crisp. The look I am going for is traditional or old world elegant. Again, I am only replacing the vanity, counter and sinks, and lighting as well as wall color and window treatments. I am also considering replacing the shower doors with new, borderless ones. The colors shown (gold and burgundy) are in the adjoining master bedroom. I would prefer NOT to match the bedroom paint but of course need to compliment. Any ideas are appreciated.

I'd head to the wallpaper store and go nuts! What better inspiration point for a tiny and dramatic space than an incredible wallpaper? Since your space is so small, you could do some Maya Romanoff or similar $$$$ paper in a metallic, pearlescent, or other textured finish.

Hubby and I did a trade show display once with a textured ostrich-skin wall vinyl in dark green with black glaze that was jaw-droppingly gorgeous. One double-roll in the scrap bin was all it took...

Thank you both! I will browse the galleries. I've actually seen the Pharaoh bathroom and it's incredible, but ultimately I'm looking for something a little less modern. I am thinking maybe black (tiled walls, toilet, sink, tub) with gold in there somewhere. But I don't know...

look through the tile web sites you can get some pictures that way. As well as hgtv and diy.

I love the dramatic wallpaper idea but there is no window and I'm concerned it will start to peel. It's taken us 15 years to redo the bathrooms and I know we will never get around to replacing the wallpaper down the road.
