How do you feel about resilient flooring in bathrooms
Comments (18)We used a very high end resilient vinyl in our kitchen and have a good amount left over. It's a slate look of neutral colors with a tile pattern. People who see it think it's the real deal. Compliments are plenty. Anyway, we're now remodeling our hall bath and plan on using this same vinyl in that bathroom (thinking this wasn't right, I questioned another forum & the replies where all for it & why waste what can be used). DH will be tiling the tub area, and the rest of the walls are painted. He originally wanted to put a tub surround in and I talked him out of it. Certainly, we can tile the floor if we choose to, however, we don't care for tile on any floor. It's cold, hard, and just plain uncomfortable, not to mention a pain to clean. I remember when I asked on another forum here about using vinyl with granite in our kitchen remodel, we received more negative replies than positive. I began to second guess myself, but stuck with my plan and I'm glad I did. The end result is beautiful (& comfy too). I don't know what the homes have around here, but we remodel according to our lifestyle and not to keep up with the Jones'. After all, WE have to live here. I always do my best remodel/decorate with a classic style (I'm not trendy) so the "look" will be around for awhile. I think if the remodel is done well, surfaces and colors coordinate, and the owner likes everything, go with your gut. Her friends don't live there after all. The homes in my neighborhood are priced in low to mid $400K and I'm not above using an excellent quality vinyl. Now, if your client lives in a a very high-end/upscale neighborhood, I'd say, no vinyl. Hope that makes sense....See MoreDo You Have Fabric Window Treatments In Your Bathroom?
Comments (22)I do no think curtains are appropriate in a bathroom, although it could depend on the space. I like drapes in some rooms, although I also know they can "harbor" dust/mites/allergens regardless of what you do. (When I walk through homes with curtains in the bathroom, it does gross me out a bit.) Because our window is behind the tub/hard to reach and we don't have a pretty view out the bathrooms, we got frosted window glass. There is pretty natural light that comes through constantly, but we have privacy....See MoreWhat do you think about these elements for basement bathroom??
Comments (8)Thanks all for your responses! LIke PPS said- it won't be used too often so I am not overly concerned about the quality.Unfortunately we only have a $500 budget for the vanity (and top/sink) so I really have to go for the big box store options. (Unless someone in the greater Boston area knows of a local place that can do the same for less). @pps7- it is a decent size, however, the basement plumbing was done when we built the house. Unfortunately, the location of the sink is NOT where I would have wanted it. I wish I could have switched the toilet with it but being the naive sole that I was when we were building- I had no idea what went with what. The location for the sink is teeny (i am almost feeling lucky I can even get a 30" in). The shower appears to be huge- which we weren't expecting but it's what is in the deal. We are using our builder to finish the basement so we are getting a decent deal for everything. I may still look into getting a remnant but i'm not sure how that will work the sink as well.. Seems like it may end up costing more than the $500. I still have some time, but not much! Thanks again!...See MoreBathroom vanity? Am I worrying about nothing?
Comments (12)It's not a huge price difference. The comps are 180-220, the RE agent who is a friend and doesn't know our neighborhood well, thinks we should list at 192, the contractor (who does house flipping in our area) and my husband think $205. The only other houses with upgrades are asking 220 (and are pending). The ones pulling the value down are foreclosures in bad condition. We are spending $5500 now, that's all he wants back. It's a "master planned community" with all of the bells and whistles that entails plus the house only has side neighbors, there is a pond with fountains across the street, with a park next to that. I'm not sure what kind of faux it is. Porcelain maybe? It's white/cream. Standard bathroom fare. They are small rings. We never use that sink and just typically wipe it down and put the stuff back. I wouldn't try to hide it, other than have the soap in that general area again. Or not if it looks cluttered....See Morekristine_ca
