Bathroom Window Treatments
Comments (2)If you want the see-out-but-not-see-in effect, for daytime use look at mirrored window films. If you go that route and that will be the only treatment used, mirrored films give privacy to the side of the film that is darker. Typically in the day time people won't be able to see in, but at night when your bathroom is lit up and it's dark outside, the effect is reversed...you won't be able to see out but people outside can see in. So while that type of film is good for daytime, you'll need to couple it with a curtain or blind for night time. Or you can go the route of a frosted film. You'll retain some light transmission, but lose the view. There are numerous styles of frosted films, and the amount of light they allow to transmiss does vary. There are stained glass films too if you want to go decorative. That aside, for window shades, I like top-down-bottom-up for any actual window shade. If you're not familiar, with those shades you can lower it from the top (usually most effective in a bathroom), or raise it from the bottom, or both. If you can lose a little of the view and natural light during the day, then go with just a T-D-B-U shade. If you want to preserve the entire view, your best bet will be to use a reflective film. That'll give you privacy in the day. Couple it with a shade for night time use. If the view isn't important and you prefer to not have a window shade, than a frosted or semi-opaque film could be used. Color recomendations, I'll leave that up to the stylists....See MoreWhat type window treatments do you have in your kitchen?
Comments (25)thanks natal...i didn't realize the kitchen window was only 38"...i thought that one was much wider than the keeping rm's windows! i was wondering if the ease of opening/closing was more difficult than the cords--sounds like it is. i have 3 ~36' windows and one 64" window that i want to get wovens for in bedroom...anticipate that we'll be raising/lowering them fairly often...will probably save the extra$ and just get corded....See MoreDo you have a valence in your bathroom?
Comments (4)I do. I have them in the master & guest bath. They're 2nd story windows w/ no privacy issues. Both are tailored/unfussy, but add a touch of color/texture & soften the light. I had custom shutters made for the main floor powder/laundry room window for privacy with filtered light....See Moremaster bathroom window treatments
Comments (6)I’m no expert on window treatments, but I think Roman blind or cafe curtain here. I had a similar dilemma with some inswing casements in a bathroom, and I resisted the idea of window film. Then one day, I gave it a shot, and wondered why I waited so long! It was a perfect solution (for me,) and the entire roll of film was under $10. Just a thought—you’d have very little to lose, though you want a steady hand when you apply it. Also: that is a beautiful tub! So elegant. And one more thing: may I ask what us that green thing out the window?? good luck!...See Morearcy_gw
