Bathrooms Design Dilemma Windows

We just remodeled our master bathroom and we didn’t think about window treatments. We have a beautiful view of Woods but want privacy as well. Top down bottom up seem like the best fit. The window Handle at bottom seems to eliminate shutters. We found these cellular top down bottom blinds but a few of our designer friends said it looked bad. Wanted to get everyone’s thoughts, are cellular blinds cheap for a bathroom like this?

I don’t want responses like “it’s your house, do what you like”. Fact of the matter is I don’t know what I like, I’ve had help throughout the bathroom remodel and I’m incapable of making design decisions!. The other option is top down Roman shades, which are 3-4x the price of these, which I’m fine with.

They don't look cheap but they might not be the best option for your bathroom. In my opinion, they look "stiff" next to your curvy tub. I agree with the suggestion of roman blinds instead. Would add softness to the windows. Cafe curtains might be another option.

I’m no expert on window treatments, but I think Roman blind or cafe curtain here. I had a similar dilemma with some inswing casements in a bathroom, and I resisted the idea of window film. Then one day, I gave it a shot, and wondered why I waited so long! It was a perfect solution (for me,) and the entire roll of film was under $10. Just a thought—you’d have very little to lose, though you want a steady hand when you apply it.

Also: that is a beautiful tub! So elegant.

And one more thing: may I ask what us that green thing out the window??

The rental houses we stay in every year at a beach all have fabric honeycomb shades in all the rooms, including the bathrooms. I hate them as they are always sooooo dirty and nasty. It's one comment I always put on the complaint form for the office. Granted that a beach enviro is humid and damp... but those fabric shades just seem to attract more than the usual amount of dust and all the other bathroom fluff. Fabric itself if washable is great as a WT... but I would be very leery of the fabric blinds unless you are willing to vac them on a regular basis. Even if your bath has a wonderful vent system... the "fluff" will be attracted to the stationary blinds. JMHO! ;)

Do a search here on the home decorating form for Roman shades. Back in Nov. 2016 Pippiep began posting about Roman shades when she began making them for her home. Follow her conversations on the subject as she posts lots of good information if you decide to make them yourself. She also shows her finished shades. I just took a quick look at one that looked like it might have a repeat similar to your first fabric. The second fabric is pretty too. It's a softer look on my monitor. The first has more punch. Depends on what you want. You're seeing the colors in the room better than anyone so go with what you like.

The lighting is beautiful coming through the windows. Also, you have the wood trim around the frames that is also nice. If you did a shutter, it would cover up the beautiful features of the windows and block out a lot of light. I would do a cafe curtain about 2/3 of the way up to allow for privacy, yet still opening up the window and the space with light and bringing softness to the room. You would be able to open and close the curtains also during different times of the day to allow light and a view out the window. A metal rod with rings would work in whatever color your fixtures are. The room is a bit sterile with all the tile and light colors. A nice linen with white background and a small print detail (in gray or blue) fabric would bring some softness to the room.

Thanks everyone. The “green” thing is an old cedar shake roof on my gazebo. It’s been green since I bought the house and I know I have to replace but I’ve been focused on updating the inside of the house first!

You can do top down bottom up roman shades and that would allow for a nice print fabric in some color you like

I think you need something top down bottom up to give you the most privacy. I don’t think the cell shades look bad, I just think the color is too stark for the rest of your elements.
