Frameless shower double towel rack

We are finalizing the design of our frameless shower and new tub. This forum has been great.

With limited space, we will have a 42x42 shower and 60" tub that will take up all of the space available on that wall.

The dilemma is that we don't have a solution for where to put our towels. I don't want to have to remember to move my towel to the shower, nor do I want to have to run across the room to get it. There are two of us and we need room for two towels.

Has anyone seen a double towel rack for a frameless shower? We would consider hooks, but they would have to be so high to keep the towels off the floor that they would completely block the door and the view of our pretty new tile work.

All of these beautiful photos of showers never show the towels.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I wish I could offer a suggestion, but I can't. I just wanted to say you are so right in your observation that the pretty pictures never bother to show how someone might actually use the bathroom.

I really like the hooks we used in our daughter's bath. There are only 3 of them but they're double hooks so she can also use them for her robes and to hang wet bathing suits to dry. This room also serves as the guest bath and they worked out really well when we had company visiting from out of town, because everyone had their own hook. We haven't experienced any issues with the towels drying out between each use, but we're in sunny, dry California and I'm not sure if that makes a difference. Be sure to try out different hooks. I originally ordered the Mercer hooks from Pottery Barn, but the heavy towels wouldn't stay put. These are the vintage hooks from Restoration Hardware and we haven't had a problem. They're very heavy and "curvier" than some other hooks.

I've mixed brands of polished nickel, and am very happy with how it's turned out. In one bath I have a Pottery Barn quad sconce (discontinued; got it on ebay), Kohler faucets, a Ginger Chelsea grab bar and knobs and tank lever from Lowes. We're finishing the master bath now, and have Hansgrohe Retroaktiv polished nickel faucets, another Ginger grab bar (love it), and the Asbury triple sconce from Restoration Hardware. The sconce is not big in scale at all, and is over a 42" vanity. We like both sconces with lights pointing up so we don't look at the bulbs. Three 60-watt bulbs is plenty, and we have two can lights near the toilet/shower area. I'm using hooks for towels instead of bars, and found polished nickel ones at Lowes that I really like; they match the drawer knobs and tank lever that I'm also using. They're all traditional in style, and all go together really well. I don't think anyone would criticize that they are not from the same company. Good luck! Gorgeous medicine cabinet.

Look at Command Hooks. They are now making brushed nickel or chrome look, etc. in a few different styles. I wouldn't call them top quality, but they are fine looking and will hold a towel easily. You could put one on the wall nearest the entrance so you can reach out and grab your dry towel. Put it above eye level and it won't be noticeable at all. They won't damage the wall or tile/marble. If you have enough room in your shower, you could put one IN the shower out of reach of the spray. I've had two (to hold wet washcloths to dry before putting in the laundry) in my shower for about 3 years and they seem to do fine in the damp, even direct spray when cleaning the shower.

We had two towel bars when we first moved here. The first went about 4 years ago when we replaced the bathroom window and had to go a little bit larger. We relocated the two towels that hung on that bar to hooks on the back of the door. We lost the second towel bar about 2 years ago because the towels just weren't drying on the back of the door. I came up with the idea of using hooks. We had a piece of pine here and I just had DH screw the board into the wall and mount 4 hooks on it. I haven't regretted once! Much easier to deal with and the kids can actually hang their own towels!

Sullen ... what a beautiful bathroom! I also really love the look of your towel warmer (some of them are not so pretty). What kind/model is that?

Thanks, Sailorgirl. The towel warmer is a Warmrails Kensington. Unfortunately, that model has been at least temporarily discontinued. I think I got the last one on the planet! Hopefully, they'll resume production in the future.

We had the same problem! We had the glass frame guys install a 22" towel bar on part of the glass enclosure, next to the shower door. Our shower is 52 X 38.
I still have to lay my wet towel over the side of the tub, as the towel rack is for DH. We really have no other wall space as it's taken up by cabinets, windows, mirrors and doorways!
