I don't like my crema marfil... it has too much peach!

My master bath vanity tops were installed. I am not happy with the color. It is totally my fault. The crema that I wanted was not in stock. So, I let the granite yard guys talk me into this other type, telling me I'd love it once it was installed. I knew it was too peach for my tastes and I let them fool me into thinking it was just the light in the warehouse. I'm so mad at myself!!!!!!!!!

Is there anything that can be done to change the surface color? Can I bleach the color out of it somehow? Or stain it?

I seriously doubt you can bleach out the color but you might be able to lighten the effect with different light. If you used more of a white light rather than ones with yellow tones it might help. I am not sure what color it is now but it is worth a try.

Since peach is the most attractive color for skin tones, you did a good thing. With the right paint color and accessories I'm sure it will be beautiful. Can you post a photo of it?

White with gray veining type marble is classic and is neither masculine nor feminine. If you want to make a statement and identify a bathroom as masculine, IMO you're being too timid with crema marfil. I'd suggest something like Michelangelo marble with a dark wood vanity, such as the picture below. If you want to stay with white-with-gray-veining type marble but want to distinguish the other baths from your husband's, why not go with statuary marble? Carrara is more foggy while statuary (statuario) has sharply defined veining. Or, you could do carrara or statuary for the above the floor surfaces (vanity top, shower) and a darker marble or tile for the floor: This post was edited by DreamingoftheUP on Sun, Mar 30, 14 at 6:49

Kay, how are you? I haven't been around for a while, I had to take a break and get myself together. To everyone I want to tell you that I am so sorry for your loss and sadness, it is the worst pain anyone can have BUT it does get better, I promise. My heart and soul mate died 14 months ago and I wanted to die with him, I was in so much pain and so scared of what was going to happen to me without him; life must go on. I was told that it doesn't get better but it gets different and they were right. I still weep and some days are bad but I have more good days as time goes on. Life won't seem so alien after a while, I just felt like I didn't belong here any more, not in my home, my job or this world but I did finally settle with my feet back on the ground. It's not easy but you have to push youself to live and it eventually gets easier. Please take care of yourselves, get help if you need it and work hard at being strong, we will never forget and we will always love them and happier days are ahead. God Bless all, Mav.

Thanks for the support. The pendant is from Shadesoflight.com: http://www.shadesoflight.com/fasciati-glass-lantern.html I still need to get glass shelves and the door with panes for that cabinet by refrigerator. I am also trying to decide whether I like the back of the cabinet to be painted the same color as the walls or just leave it white. I think I am leaning towards leaving it white. You could see it in the picture but it isn't lit below the first shelf as I still haven't placed the order for the glass shelves. Taking a step back from being so TKO really helped. I took my time choosing the lighting - many returns, many days and nights staring at the computer screen. I knew I liked lanterns but was drifting in another direction. The breather helped. I am very happy with the lighting choice. I am working on the other rooms that look into the kitchen and the lantern pulls everything together.

Would you Choose Crema Marfil Select or Crema Marfil Classic?

Personally, I'd choose the select. It is right at eye level and you will be looking at it every day. If you choose the lesser grade, there may be many pieces in the boxes that you won't want to use.

My paint color is SW Quietude and the cabinets are stained. I'll post a pic tomorrow to see what you think... Perhaps if the cabinets were painted white that might help, if the stained wood is pulling the peach tones from the marble?

So does anyone out there know enough about color from an artist point of view... to help tell me what colors for the walls would NOT bring out the peach in the marble? I really need to switch this over to Home Dec forum...
