Our mortgage, including all taxes and insurance, runs us about $900 a month, and we only put down about $3000 on our house. We could have purchased a nicer (albeit smaller) house just down the street for almost half the price. Two people earning low- to moderate salaries should have no problem owning a house, as long as they realize that they won't be dining out seven nights a week, won't be walking around in Prada shoes, and may not have a 90210 zip code. Anyone who's responsible enough to appropriately manage their finances can be a homeowner. With that being said, one needs to realize when living in an apartment that some noise will be involved. Heck, my first apartment had walls like rice paper; I could hear quiet conversations word-for-word on either side. IT COMES WITH THE TERRITORY. I genuinely DO feel for the OP in that she is apparently a light sleeper, but if this situation is so stressful for her that she erupts in fits of bigoted name-calling whenever someone tells her something she doesn't want to hear, then she owes it to her own sanity to just figure out a way to move. No apartment is worth a stress-induced heart attack, you know?

If you had done a search you would find 34 threads in this forum that have information about neo-angle showers. I've linked to one of them where I posted a couple of times and included a photo of ours, which is in the master bath suite. A neo-angle is useful for specific configuration issues. It has worked very well for us. I think I mentioned in the linked discussion thread that we went to a kitchen and bath showroom and were able to try out both a 38" and 42" neo-angle (these were custom tile surrounds and pans, which we were not interested in - we just wanted to try the sizes). I am 5'6" and overweight, my DH is 5'11" and 185 lb. The shower fits us just fine. It isn't the roomiest in the world, but it is sufficient room that we don't knock an elbow against the glass while showering. We do not feel constricted or uncomfortable in any way. The 38" felt MUCH more cramped. It would have been nice to have a 48" neo-angle but that wasn't possible due to structural considerations. HTH. I believe neo angle showers are just a square with one corner clipped off. You would just measure out 4' on each wall then draw a line 90 degrees from that mark to mark out a big 4'x4' square on the floor with the corner in the corner of the room. Then draw a diagonal from the corner of the room out and move your tape back along it until you have 14" on each side. Connect those two marks for your "clipped" corner (make sure the two legs are even). 28" is plenty for a shower door.

There are lots of choices if you have a 32" deep space for the bathtub/shower. BTW, for a 32" fixture you may need an inch or two more for installation because most models have a nailing flange - pay attention to the rough-in size... I'm about to replace a cast iron tub with a shower/tub combo and have just done some shopping around and online research, there's one list of tub/shower manufacturer online at: http://www.askthebuilder.com/B65_Acrylic_And_Fiberglass_Shower_Manufacturers.shtml The one piece tubs look great but you do need to measure your doors carefully as well as make sure there's room to maneuver with such a large object. The units that have 2 or more pieces are much easier to move. Check the installation instuctions as some need to be bolted together and this can be tricky in tight quarters. If you are going to be using the tub, smart to be thinking about its size. One dimention that matters is the distance between the drain and the *bottom* of the overflow which will be the maximum depth of water that the tub will take. Easy to get that measurement in a store or showroom otherwise you have to hunt for that spec in the manufacterer's literature. In looking over the brands available locally (Aqua-Glass, Lasco, Sterling) one Sterling model, the Ensemble, has a noticably deeper tub but I don't have space for it. Floor to the tub ledge is 18" and the drain to overflow distance is 13 3/4" which sounds like it makes for a good bath...
