Dishes - Gummy, not greasy - What to do?

Hi all,

OK, I'm old enough to know better - been doing dishes all my life (so it seems).

Been having problems with cleaning last couple years.

Pots / pans, stove (another thread) - not "greasy", but "gummy", and seems no matter how old or new the item, the "stuff" will not come off.

Example is a teflon coated "non-stick" pizza pan. OR, a fry pan or top of porcelain stove (another thread).

I've tried baking soda, vinegar, dish wash liquid, dishwasher soap, cleanser, pinesol, lysol...(and even with an abrasive scrubby!)

Nothing seems to work! Even on "new" teflon coated - non-stick!

The only thing that has changed is...last couple years started using canola oil or olive oil rather than the good ol' bad stuff.

Are these types of oil harder to clean? OR, is it just me? What do I use?

I'm not a regular shopper and I don't go out and buy every new product to hit the market. I still believe there should be some "home remedy" - short of steel wool.

I think I even tried salt with something??? Nothing seems to get the "sticky / gummy" stuff off!

(even considered tryig "W-D 40" - but not a good idea for stuff we cook on! LOL!)

HELP PLEASE???
