some guy just tried to use our port-a-potty

i always thought it was a great perk to have a temporary house on the property we bought for our new home, but now i'm not so sure.

the temp house is in front of the new build and there is a port-a-potty at the end of the driveway. while working here in the living room i saw a guy with a truck hauling old furniture pull into the driveway.

i went out the back to meet him, curious as we are not expecting any deliveries today especially old, used furniture.

he is entering the P-O-P and as he sees me he says, "oh, i just wanted to take a leak."

now, something about this struck me as unacceptable and i told him to leave immediately. he rambled on three more times expressing his need to urinate. i don't know... maybe it's me. we live in a nice area and frankly i'm not used to dealing with folks who just stop in to use the facilities. especially folks we don't know.

give it to me straight. am i just a b*tch or what?

It doesn't matter. The owner is ultimately 'paying' for the port-a-potty regardless of who actually writes then sends the check to the port-a-potty company. A port-a-potty is a cost of doing business for the builder. The builder always passes on the cost of doing business to the customer. End of story. So if your builder is 'billing' you each month for the Job Johnny renatl, you are paying for it... And if he does not appear to be billing you at all, your are still paying for it because he has it factored into his costs with his bid...

IMO, your father is playing both of you like a fiddle. As long as each of you are complaining about the other one, all focus is off of him. Brilliant! Golddust.. I agree. I've started replying 3 times and deleted all of them. I think there's more to the story & doubt it's just the girlfriend. Reading her letter, she probably thinks she's helping her man. Danielle, the best advice I can give you is to try to understand where she is coming from; but don't let her walk all over you. This is a very touchy situation; you know what your dad was like when you were growing up & she came into the picture after he was out of his "unhappy" marriage. While he's probably told her his side; she's never going to know what really happened because she wasn't there and IMO.. she needs to respect your feelings & how hurt you were by him but try to respect her for trying to be there for your dad now. I have issues with my step son. He likes to go back to his father & say that I said this or I said that. When my hubby fell off of his truck I sent him an email because he stopped speaking to my hub & wouldn't you know it, he twisted my email around trying to start a fight between my hub & I. Thankfully my hub knew about the email before I sent it; it was a rude awakening to my hub of just what his son would do to get me out of the picture. This is all in SS's head, not mine because I can be grown up about it & smile like nothing ever happened but he can't. The best advice I can give you is to try to have a relationship with your dad without the GF around every time. You still need father/daughter time. I encourage hub to call his son or go golfing with him because even though we can't see eye to eye, it's still his son. My hub does not talk about me when they are together & if the kid starts, he says it's between you 2 and not me. SS's mother was an alcoholic - probably why he hates me so much because we have the life he never had growing up & his father has been raising my 2 kids for the last 10 years.. so he's bitter; but he's also an adult man in his 30's & a divorced father. I don't feel that the GF was trying to place "blame" on any of the kids for the marriage/drinking problems, I read it as her just stating why he was drinking. My dad stayed in a bad marriage because "It was cheaper to keep her" & we kids suffered with the fighting. Dad was not around most times, he chose to work as much as he could.

hi jen! in rereading what i wrote, i can see i wasn't being clear at all--sorry. i made the marinated mozarella on sunday because i think it's best after it's had a chance to sit around for awhile. i don't like tomatoes after they have been refrigerated (our tomatoes always sit on the counter until we are ready to eat them...) so i took the marinated cheese out of the fridge wednesday morning and added the tomato halves to the dish of marinated cheese then (the olive oil is sort of firm--needs some time to warm up). then i just skewered a piece of cheese, a basil leaf and a chunk of tomato onto the toothpick. you certainly could use long skewers and put multiple pieces on but this just made a perfect little bite and the fresh leaf was a nice bit of some crunch in an otherwise rather soft bit of food... there were lots of dishes to choose from but both this and the stuffed ricotta pie went very quickly!

You mean it'll be a pony wall at the R end of the FP? The prep sink would work there on the kit side. From Sena's LO there'd be about 4' of prep space between it and the stove. I'd still use a shallow pantry on the wall of the laundry room at the end. (that'd also eliminate the deep lower corner cabinet area problem) I'd put in an EZreach upper cab on that corner to butt up to the shallow pantry. uppers usually run about 15" deep, don't they? I'd want a long area of prep space on the other side too instead of a deep pantry. Having the window side not so deep by the door and shallow on the stove side would make it more open at the doorway. Easier to see little ones coming in too. Having a prep area on both sides would be great when you have help in the kitchen by family/friends. On the window side, how about the fridge next to the dw? You could even move the sink/dw to the L maybe another foot - that'd give maybe 3' or so to the R of the fridge for the desk area. (before the doorway to the sunroom) Try putting this in the layout/or 3d pic and post here so we can see how it looks. I like the idea of the 6' between counters when a number of people will be working in that area - and possibly someone going out or coming in that laundry area door. Less congestion. The wall ovens - those are good for those who have problems bending down to the oven on a stove. Really tall people, those with a bad back... or those who often use oven and stove top at the same time. Many don't like standing at the stove top with the heat of the oven so close to them. I'd love to have one but I so seldom use the oven, it doesn't seem worth it for me. I probably don't use the oven 2x a month. Maybe once a month. btw, I tried bolding my '2x a month' above and it did. I didn't hit submit tho, so maybe it would bonk me if I did that. Or maybe it is the phone or just when editing a post? Just gotta say it.....Maybe you were just a bit upset with the stress of losing your mom. Sorry- it hurts.
I do hope though, that if I need to use a POP, that nobody would be offended. I too, have had IBS in the past- and I have been in the situation where there isn't a bathroom for miles. It is a horribly painful thing to try to 'hold it' when your bowels are ready to explode.
You don't say what kind of area you live in- are there gas stations, fast food places, a county/city park with bathrooms? It would have been more appropriate for the man to use another facility if available, but refusing someone to use something like that is a bit overboard I think- even if it is on your property.
As small an incident as this is, I think this kind of attitude is PART of why our country is in so much trouble- (we as human beings are not very social.compassionate anymore).
Sometime in your life you will probably need something very, very bad- RIGHT NOW. Yes, Karma or whatever you believe in might come back to you.
On the other hand- if the guy was stopping to use the POP because he had been at the bar drinking beer, and now has to pee so bad because of the diuretic effect of alcohol- he was rude.
I must confess that a long time ago, I was at the street party on Siesta Key, Florida- it is a big deal- partying, lots of craftware, lots of people to meet and enjoy. My friend and I were leaving- but we forgot to pay attention to where we parked the car....we looked for about 1 and 1/2 hours- I was so desperate to use a bathroom, that I asked a couple who were outside doing yardwork- thank goodness they laughed at the situation and said 'yes'!
I do hope all this bustle has made you think a bit- and next time you might be a bit kinder.

ok. this is either 39 or 38.

i'm going to sleep. have to get ready for a big day tomorrow. i plan on standing guard behind one of the old maples with my brandy-new walnut stock smith and wesson, ready to take aim at anyone who dares to venture down the drive. the kids have off from school, so this is a great opportunity for me to teach them the fine art of assassination. after we've 'offed some trespassers we can dig holes for them in the basement since they haven't poured the cement yet. the kids can drive the limp and lifeless bodies out to the build on their little electric cars. ds has a john deer tractor 4x4 which would probably work better than dd's pink barbie escalade. should be a fun day. i'll allow the UPS guy deliver packages safely. see? i'm plenty kind.
