This goes way beyond normal kids staying up late at night; just the sleep deprivation alone is torture & abuse. The stepson enjoys doing it, & his father enables it. "My family doctor and my psychiatrist feel that I should leave this unhealthy environment but I do love my partner and that is what keeps me here." I hate to say it, but I think you'll leave pretty soon one way or another. If you don't go under your own steam, an ambulance will take you to the hospital or the nursing home or the funeral home. & this "partner" will not come visit you; he'll throw your belongings out & forget about you (although if you're in the cemetary, he may tell people how broken-hearted he is). This is how abusers are, I've seen it before. & he *is* an abuser; even though it's the son who's mistreating you, the father is making sure that the son can keep doing it. sort of abuse at arm's length. It doesn't matter how often you catch the son & present concrete evidence to his dad, the dad will somehow sweep it under the rug & turn the tables & accuse you of causing trouble. That's called blaming the victim. Loving somebody does *not* involve taking whatever abuse they or their messed-up offspring dish out & coming back for more. Loving someone doesn't mean throwing yourself on the floor for them to wipe their feet on & pleading for them to stop; (& why would they? hey, they've got a good doormat there). Loving relationships are just that, *relationships*. Love is a 2-way street, & you are going against traffic on a 1-way street here. You've already gotten to a stop light, & your doctors have told you to take a sharp turn, but you keep thinking that the oncoming traffic will let you through. Take that turn & get off that street. Since you are seeing a doctor & a psychiatrist, I'd guess that you can afford to get a place of your own, but if you can't, call a women's shelter for guidance. Please take care of yourself & be good to yourself.

We swapped the rugs, Gold went to the living room and my DH is happy. He likes it better there and so do I. The color looks less orangey. And the size is good for that room. The silver rug looks 'OK' in the DR but is really a bit too blue for the DR and the fabric I've had for windows. It will be perfect upstairs in my snore room however when I get to that project so both are keepers and will work fine as place holders. Busybee3 - I would keep the table at the round 54" as I only do larger 10+ sit downs a few times a year. I guess I really think of the DR divided into two sections a 6 X 16 hallway and a 10 X 16; as that side is where the table lives, and the light fixture is placed accordingly. I do not want to center the table to the room as that would be trickly for walking to the kitchen. What I consider the hall is really part of the room and will have the buffet placed there. The other walls will have a china cab and server. For now I will have the silver rug placed where the large gold rug is in the first picture, but I will try with out a runner for awhile. Not ideal but will get us by to move in - While I keep my eyes peeled for the perfect rug.

Linelle: your description perfectly captures the difference between my sample and what I'm looking for! My sample is flat and lifeless. What I want is for the wood to look rich and alive. The example I chose may be red oak. I know white oak can be just as lively as red oak though. There are plenty of QS white oak photos that look rich and full of figure. It's the rift white oak that I cannot find good photos of! ILoveRed: I have seen the photo of the tall cabinets in the first kitchen and it is gorgeous! It doesn't show the detail of the wood as clearly as I need but I'll add it to my photos. The second kitchen you found has some really good photos. Thanks so much for finding that for me! omelet: I'm not an expert either but I agree with you - the cut determines the figure of the wood more than the finish. But take a look at the figure on the unstained backside of my sample door: Unstained, it has a lot of wonderful richness and unexpected fleck in too. If they didn't leave the backside unstained I would have never known that RS white oak could look so lively and have such lovely figure. In one of my other threads, we seem to have figured out that they used a mix of woods and cuts on this sample door. The side rails look like RS white oak, top and bottom rails QS white oak and center panel is plain sawn red oak. That's a fantastic suggestion to post on the flooring forum! Off I go...

Hi. Check out Fisher and Paykel's website, or just look on Lowes. I see what looks like the identical refrigerator on their site. You will have to order it. If you want to see one in person, you can try calling local appliance stores, or dealers listed on the F&P site. I personally would not hesitate to buy Fisher and Paykel, because I have used their dishdrawer dishwashers in two homes and find they work well and are not prone to needing repairs. Of course, others disagree. Oh, just saw you want an icemaker. They are available on some of the F&P models, but not sure about the model you've selected. Hope this helps!
