What type of drain does your vessel sink have?
Comments (2)Ours is an umbrella. There is a "grid" below the umbrella though into which the umbrella attaches via a post screw. Ours is exclusively for washing hands in a powder room. It does flow a bit slowly but I believe that is due to a plumbing grade issue that I choose not to repair right now as it will involve opening the wall....See MoreVessel sink doesn't drain
Comments (36)lisa- The overflow in a sink has one function: to handle an overflow if the water level gets too high; it has no role in relation to the drain functioning properly. Any properly installed sink drain consists of two parts: 1) the pipe from the bottom of the sink to the P-trap and then on to the sewer, and 2) the vent pipe (usually in the wall) that is connected to the drain pipe and admits air so that there is no suction effect when a large volume of water is going down the drain. If there is no vent, or if the vent gets plugged up, then the water running down the drain tends to cause a suction effect and the water drains slowly. Conversely, if a sink is properly vented, it doesn't matter whether it has an overflow or not. Does that make sense to you?...See Moreslow vessel sink drain

Comments (1)If your sink has an overflow, you should use it. The correct corresponding drain would be "with overflow" (NOT "less overflow" or however they say it). So there should be hole(s) on the side of the drain near the bottom os the overflow water can into the drain. If the sink is round and uniform, you can turn the sink so the overflow hole is not visible....See MoreRelated Professionals
