KA DW doesn't drain completely
Comments (3)i've found that new dishwashers are much different than the old style. my miele dishwasher wasn't draining when we first got it. i also assumed that the hose was kinked or blocked, or that something was wrong with the unit. none of that turned out to be the case. the issue, i believe, was two-fold: 1) it takes several cycles for the machine to "loosen up" as a Miele serviceman, who was there to look at our washing machine, said. 2) our water is quite hard, and hard water doesn't do well in these new models. i make sure i feed it plenty of dishwasher salt to soften the water. i know when it gets low because the dishes aren't coming out dry. 3) and i use jet-dry. i know when that's low as well for the same reason as above in 2). i guess that makes the issue 3-fold, not 2-fold. but before you panic, consider these approaches....See MorePop-up drain for onyx vessel sink
Comments (7)Hi neesie, As far as I know, there is only one standard size bath drain. Sometimes these are referred to as 1 1/2", sometimes 1 3/4", etc. The confusion is sometimes due to the escutcion size rather than the size of the hole. I'm assuming the seller of the sink also sells drains? If not, then you simply need to go to a hardware store, pick out a drain you want and measure the size of the part that will be going through the hole in the bottom of the sink. I suspect that any size "standard" bath drain - whether vessel style of not - will work with your sink. One other comment, I don't believe there is a "pop up" style drain that will work for a vessel sink. There is an "umbrella" style that you manually push down once to close, and again to open. A "pop-up" style generally means that there is a mechanism behind the drain that will open and close the drain from your faucet. ...however, this is always for a sink that has an overflow from my experience. Hope this helps....See MoreBosch dishwashers doesn't drain
Comments (5)Well, after going to another site specifically for appliance repair and skimming a Bosch repair manual it occurred to me that maybe I should use my thanksgiving weekend - first four days off in a row since February - to not be doing dishwasher repair so I called somebody on Craigslist, after checking reputation on another site. The guy came out, checked the air valve on the counter top, found a small glob of stuff clogging it, removed it and the dish washer is working fine. $75. Oh well. That was part of the trouble shooting that I read or saw on youtube but I had ignored it. Also learned that the answer to my question about how to get the dishwasher to go into drain mode without doing a full wash to the end. There are two buttons marked to be pushed together to end the cycle and that initiates the drain....See MoreDrain opening in new sink doesn't line up with existing drain pip
Comments (6)2 possibilities.....if the pipe coming out of the wall is plastic...looks like ABS plastic...you could cut it off to shorten it and then it could line up. The piece attached to the end of this piece is called a desanko or trap adapter. It is glued on and a new one will be needed. You should get a another ABS rather desanko rather than one made of PVC and then use ABS cement. Or if you get a white one (PVC) you will need a special glue to attach PVC to ABS. When cutting cut it a touch longer than you think you need and do a trial fit. If it's still too long cut a little more off. The point is you don't want to cut too much off on the first cut because then you will have to get a new, longer trap. A second option is to get a flexible tail piece...that is the piece that goes from the sink basked to the trap. But I'm not sure that a flexible tail piece will bend enough to make the connection that you show....See MoreRelated Professionals
