Sweet Spot for buying used Fridge

I bought my 25cubic ft Whirlpool SxS refrigerator/freezer exactly 5 years ago. Last summer the icemaker went out and I don't feel like spending the $$ to get it fixed as parts and repair are expensive. Plus, from doing research on my model and the ones from 2001 and 2002, it seems like during the 5th and 6th years, the compressor usually goes out, so Ithink I should get rid of it for $200 and put my money into another used one. I beginning to think that your run of the mill Whirlpool, Kenmore, Frigidaire, Maytag have a planned obsolescence to them. Are there any brands that aren't programmed to fail after 5 years? What is the sweet spot as far as age and % of new price to consider when buying a used fridge. From browsing classifieds, since depreciation on refrigerators is so high, it doesn't really make sense to buy a new one.
