That's a mid demo shot. I bought the house partly because of that corner sink. Some romantic housewife gene popped up and thought "won't it be nice to wash dishes and look at that view!" Mind you, she (the romantic housewife gene) and I, so rarely wash dishes that it was a goofy thought, but all of that light streaming into the kitchen, winter and summer, and the gorgeous view, just call to you to take a shot at dishwashing :oP In the new kitchen the sink will be in the same location, but everything else changes. We've also inset it 3 inches on each side. I can't imagine having lovely windows like that an not setting your sink there. With a view...why would you chose to look at a wall instead?

Here's ours. The wall color is Mt.Ranier White, which is actually a warm cream color that works well with the Mexican Talavara tile in our home. Lynn In this pic, the perspective is off somewhat. It looks like our framed print there to the far left is hung too low . . . or that I'm 7' tall. Neither is true. I'm 5'6" tall, so I must have been holding the camera too high!

I read your other thread, I was not sure how it looks, this photo helps a lot. I received quite a bit more information from Houzz.com by searching for âÂÂcorner sinkâÂÂ. Info from both sites make me think more from dish storage area and cooking habits point of views in addition to space utilization. We are planning to store dishes in bottom drawers of the island; it may be too far from new sink location. We both cook, I am concerned about corner sink may create congestion. Need to go back to the drawing board and rehash the design. Thank you again for the help.

We have something similar to this in our house too, although it uses a blind corner created by a a bedroom closet instead of a kitchen corner. (The closet runs 2/3 of the wall, and then the last 1/3, rather than being a nook in the bedroom, is used by a built-in linen closet in our hallway so that we have full-depth drawers that are flush with the wall.) Ours was designed into our house when it was built (1915 so the cabinets are ancient) but is basically just a cabinet frame set into the wall and framed in with moulding, so I imagine it would be pretty easy to do something with a cabinet box. (I'm also embarrassed to admit that I lived in our house for maybe a year before I realized that's what was going on there, too!) I think it's a super ingenious way to use corner space! (Really wanted to do this in our dining room with our new kitchen blind corner, but got vetoed since we'd have to cut into the wainscoting. Ah, well.)
