Recommendations on a non-high end hand-held shower

I would like to put in a moderately priced yet reliable hand-held in the guest bath that would serve as the only shower head. It does not have to be on a slide bar but it could be. Any recommendations?

We have Moen, mid range in price, works great.

Here is the one that I have & I am very happy with it. I have had it for at least a year now & it still works like new. I posted a link for you to see what it looks like but I see if you look online you can probably find it for even less money. It seems good quality to me. Terri

Looking at the picture from Houzz, I suppose that their fixed shower head is larger than a typical handheld, so one might want to install both to have a specialized fixed shower head as well as the advantages of a handheld. However, not only do you need to pay for both shower heads, but also you need to pay for both to be plumbed. I don't remember if I commented on a previous post of yours, but I have only a handheld and I love it. I use it in its regular position to shower and I use it to rinse down the walls and shower curtain at the end of every shower. It's made a HUGE difference in soap scum! It's also fantastic for washing things like the refrigerator shelves after I dropped an open bottle of barbeque sauce... :)

There's also something like the following which are intended for a retrofit (Kohler example; there are others). The top bracket that mounts to the wall is actually attached to the source for the original shower head. I'm not sure what your point is about your linen closet not having an access panel. It has nothing to do with new construction. I also wanted to maintain my existing tile. My home was built in the late 50's and it did not have an access panel in the linen closet either. That didn't stop the plumber from busting a large hole in the plaster wall in the closet. I created my own access panel to cover it up. agree with ravencajun that there are some really nice handhelds out there that rival or even beat a basic fixed head, plus their utility for cleaning is critical to me. Another option is to place the handheld on a slide bar so you can adjust to different heights. This is especially nice for kids or folks with very different heights. Unless you have a wide tub, I would be inclined to go with a really nice handheld on a bar and the tub spout, otherwise as linelle pointed out it will get busy with so many fixtures. Plus you will need additional diverter valves and trim for extra fixtures and you may decide that money might be better spent on upgrading the shower head (or some other part of your redo) We went all out in ours, but it is a good sized shower only - but you can see what it looks like in the picture below with two fixtures on one wall. That might do...but what what I'm looking for only has one shower head. The waterpik that we had previously was hand held, but the bracket or mount that held it allowed the head to sit lower so that the actual spray head was at "normal" height. Thanks.

Delta makes a combination handheld & fixed mount shower head. I bought this after my previous handheld once again wiggled it's way out of it's fitting, came crashing down and smacked me in the head in the middle of shampooing my hair. I absolutely love this Delta combo shower head. You get the best of both worlds. You have the ability to have both the handheld & fixed mount going at the same time (even when you've got the handheld in your hand)or just one or the other--your choice. Plus you have the massage feature option. I will be putting one of these in the new house too.

I was just coming to post something similar to what mydreamhome posted above. We installed a Delta In2ition in our upstairs shower about a month ago and so far I really like it. We have Hansgrohe downstairs and though that one feels much more solid, the Delta is inexpensive and the functionality is great. The Delta does *feel* a bit cheap, but it *acts* like a Hansgrohe.
