Please help with decision about bevel wall mirror
Comments (6)Thanks socks12345. Unfortunately, our space is rather tight and I don't have room for a frame & the sconces. Is yours a 1" bevel?...See MoreMore and questions on recessed lights above mirror x sconce help.
Comments (10)I used 4 similar sconces (Restoration Hardware Double Sutton) in my master and replaced the included incandescent light bulbs with round 40W LED bulbs because I was worried about heat and electricity usage. I'm very happy with the effect - cool, probably brighter though not as warm a glow. My contractor thought 3 sconces would have been enough, but I am happy with 4. I put in 2 75W LED can lights over the vanity, which though bright, cast facial shadows since they were located too far from the wall (10" vs. 4"- 6") - look a little ghoulish at 60+ years of age. We had above mirror makeup lights which I loved, so I would recommend horizontal above mirror lights for your situation. My RH medicine cabinets have 2 halogen lights, so sometimes I use just them to put on makeup, and they do run a little hot. I just don't put on makeup that often. And there is 1 general LED can light with diffuser in the vanity area. This post was edited by gildee on Sun, Sep 7, 14 at 16:11...See MorePlease help me hang my mirror (pics)
Comments (5)Thanks everyone...the mirror is a simple rectangle with a brushed nickle frame. I'll take a pic of it tonight and post it. I really like the idea of doing a mirror there, so against everyone's advise..I'm going to go with it. I don't want art there, as I will be doing art on the other wall. Dh and I are golfers and I will be putting some golf themed prints in B/W above the credenza (when it is finished). The existing beach stuff will be leaving the room. I am going with a more modern look. The new desk and credenza will be a glossy white. Sandra_zone6 - I like the idea of doing the cutout, I think I'll give that a try. beekeepers wife - LOL! I had to do the chase for my chairs as well! My store only had 1, I had to make some calls and send DH in another direction to get the other one. I wouldn't have bothered if I had needed 4 either! I do love them. Elaine...See MorePlease help me find the right mirror and lighting for the powder
Comments (9)Thank you for all your complement and suggestions! I guess a few coats of paint did wonders to this repurposed dresser/night stand. the original dresser was really not pretty. I just realized the link in the original post I gave does not work. Here is the new link. http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/decor/msg071721106786.html The link here has a diagram of the powder room. That space is about 31"w x 24"d, the vanity is 30.5 w x 19" d, the rest of room is 64 x 59 Beth, you are right, it's a repurposed dresser/cabinet! I just sanded and painted. My original plan was to get a granite top, but I got lazy, so i kept the top instead, and hoping i can get away with multiple coats of polyurethane. Snookum2, by "dramatic color application", do you mean paint the mirror wall some dark rich color, like crimson red or something? Chickadee2, I am thinking of sconce too. The space is 31" wide, not sure if it will be too crowded. Annie, do you have a picture of art glass pendant you have in mind? Awm03, only $35 at your local store? I am amazed at the price difference! Boobadaboo, you have a pretty powder room now! Why the second towel ring? It seems we have a similar kind of PR, no window, towel bar at the same place. As for hideous PR, mine was just as bad. I had chrome faucet ,towel bar and toilet paper ring, but GOLD lighting fixture! What's worse? I didn't even notice that until much later:-( I think is says as much about my eyes as it does about builder's sloppy work:-( :-( Fmnrobert, you have a really nice PR! The pendant lighting is really really good idea for a narrow place!!! Here is a link that might be useful: Old powder room...See MoreRelated Professionals
