Shower Curtain Rod solution for sloped ceiling?

We just finished installing a bathroom for the first time in our upstairs. Hooray! Now, we need to figure out the best way to attach a rod for a shower curtain in the tub shower (acrylic, fyi). This is the kids' bath. (I'm not interested in a glass door.) I'm not sure how to configure the rod with the sloped ceiling. If we attach the rod below the slope, the shower head is above the rod. If we go higher, then the last 1'-2' ft. of curtain farthest to the left of the head will be gaping open. Any ideas? Thanks!

Mine is exactly like that. The shower head is above the curtain, but it isn't a problem at all. The kids would have to splash a lot to splash above the rod. My six-foot son showers here and it works fine.

Thank you! Is that a curved rod- I'm wondering if that helps, if it is curved? We spent so much time trying to make sure that someone could stand up in this shower we completely forgot about the whole rod issue until the tub was done, LOL.

Bear in mind that online reviews usually number a handful, so it's hard to determine quality based on reviews. Faucetdirect.com has lots of rods. Brass rods are the most expensive. I bought stainless steel. The Kohler rods would have been my first choice, but my shower is 58", and theirs and many others start at 60". I had to buy Moen and it does look nice. We have good ventilation so I don't think rust will be a problem. Location: Once you have the rod and shower curtain, you'll figure it out pretty quickly. Most shower curtains are 70-72" long. Leaking: Curved rods won't prevent it. I bought a shower curtain liner at BB&B that has suction cups along the sides. Shower curtains: JC Penney, Macy's, Kohl's, BB&B, Pottery Barn, Croscill.com, Overstock.com, etc. I've looked at hundreds and haven't found what I'm looking for. Most look pretty chintzy imo.

I think it would look fine. The problem you may have is finding a shower curtain in an appropriate length. Most shower curtains and liners are pretty much a standard 72" square. Having to find a longer one might narrow your choices considerably. One other thing to think about is ventilation and steam. If the shower curtain goes all the way to the ceiling there isn't much place for steam to escape. It could also lead to mildew problems. If you leave the curtain open afte use so the bath and shower area can dry, the wet curtain will mildew. If you close the curtain after showering so the curtain can dry, there's not going to be much air circulation in your bath/shower area -- which could also lead to mildew.

Carolyn - I can see a couple of reasons people are reluctant to drill holes into tile: 1. If a cheap rod is used it might get dented or rust and screws of replacement rods might not match the existing screw holes. 2. If the holes are situated below the shower head, you will risk that water will seep behind the tiles, leading to mold and all its accompanying messy and expensive issues. This potential problem can be avoided entirely by filling the drill holes with epoxy and insert the screws through the fresh epoxy. 3. Some people just don't want any holes in their expensive, beautiful tile. That said, we opted for screwing our rounded aviation-grade aluminum rod into the tile of our kids/guest bathroom. We will never need to replace it and we don't have to worry of a flimsy tension rod collapsing onto our kids or - gasp, guests taking a shower. Here a pic of our kids bathroom:

@Judy Graham yes - this furniture is from our last home. we recently moved in here and are ordering new furniture for this room, so the bed will be different and lower. the bed won't work on another wall.

You might think about checking into the ceiling mounted rracks. You might get more room. Also some of them are flexible and can be bent by hand which might help you. I found some of these tracks while searching for a track for my shower/tub where I wanted to enclose one side and part of the second, then make an "s" and tuck the rod away into a cubby. One company is curtaintracks.com. I don't see why you couldn't adapt for your purpose as well.

Laughable, yes it's a curved rod. The tub itself is curved on the apron, so the rod matches the curve of the tub. It's a Kohler Expanse.
