Valentine's, St Patricks, and RE-decorating

Most of all you know I began on this Forum last Feb when I discovered Judith and her stacked plates. My first try was for Valentine's in fact. And I was hooked. I had been a bit concerned about doing the plates since I have 4 cats. I actually have 3 nice kitties, and 1 Brat Cat. To my surprise tho, they only showed mild curiousity about the Valentine decor and stacked plates. Huge sigh of relief. Then came St Patrick's Day. It quickly became obvious that Ty, aka Brat Cat, REALLY liked this Holiday!! Every morning I got up to find ornaments around the house and things on the plates rearranged or missing. I was really worried about Easter, but he ignored it. And was pretty good about the rest of the decorating during the year. I have to assume GREEN is his favorite color, or he loves shamrocks and leprechauns. This year, having the blahs after putting away my Xmas decor, I got out the Valentine's stuff a few weeks early. Too early, but I needed some color and decor, I was feeling withdrawal symptoms. Again he left the Val stuff alone. The stacked plates are on my table, and I even decorated the bay window where the cats like to lay. Things were fine until last week. Ty obviously had had enough red and was tired of it all. He began re-decorating during the night. I would spend the following mornings retrieving faux rose petals and little heart ornaments from around the kitchen and dining area. A couple of times he knocked over the little faux rose tree with the heart ornies in the bay window. He would glare at me and I swear he was thinking "enough already, put it away". I refused since it wasn't even Valentines. So he began stealing the pretty beaded bird, and other items. It was a looonnnngggg week of us decorating and redecorating. I know he's anxious for St Paddy's, and I just know its NOT going to be dull with all the ideas running around in his head. I have long referred to Ty as my "assistant", since he helps me with anything and everything. All the time. But now I think he's become a RE-Decorator, and its apparent we're going to have a difference of opinion on how things should look and where they should go. I'm not sure I'm looking forward to St Patrick's Day after all. At least I won't have to look at any more dang rose petals!!!

LOL. Anybody need help with THEIR decor? The Brat Cat might be available.

What a handsome decorating assistant. He does look like he knows exactly how it should be though :) Mine aren't interested in assisting at all, not even with the Christmas tree.

Luvs, I always feel a bit weird when I put one of my own decorations in our inspiration albums. But have to admit, this cloche was one of my favorites that I ever did. And I do love cloches, LOL. Ladies, I'm so glad you enjoy our albums. And if you have any pictures, your own stuff or something you found somewhere, please let me know. I just love looking at that tree. It certainly gets lots of attention yr round!! I enjoy how you change it out to make it look different each time. Those cute decos, and the little cottages below are just the right amount and make it look so sweet. Right now I'm chuckling, thinking of The Bunnies - 'Waiting In The Wings' !! lol jane

Thank you every one for your wonderful comments. When my DD suggested I do a St. Patrick's Day Table I didn't think I had enough things to do one. But after shopping around the house I just had to buy a few accessories. Jeanne and Jane, I had to keep King Brian happy, who knows what mischief he would have caused if he didn't get his way LOL!! Candy, I apologize for not taking the time to describe the things on the mantel. It is a St. Brigid's Cross that I mounted and framed. The other piece is actually a book "So You Think You're Irish" written by Margaret Kelleher. The clay pipe is from my DS's collection. the Celtic Cross and Harp were gifted to my DH. I believe the Shillelagh is the one he brought back from Ireland. Luvs, Punk and Jane, That little boot came with a fresh flower arrangement in it years ago. I keep it on a shelf in my kitchen. Elmaly, I didn't know anyone remembered my "Thirteen Witches" I hope they and the Leprechaun King will get along. Karen, I'm glad you looked at my pictures more than once. I do that as well. Great ideas. Some do drink during the social hour. I will look up how to make the green jell-o shots. The Irish Potato Candy looks great also. Green beer sound good. All the ideas are good. Thanks. One game we are going to use was one we did at my women's club Christmas party. Need two people..blindfold one and have them stand behind their partner who has their back to them. Give the blindfolded person a bowl of ice cream and a spoon. They have to feed the person in front of the all the ice cream....either reach around them or over their shoulders. It was lots of fun.

Karen, I was laughing out loud several times while reading your post. I am glad I don't have to worry about my dogs 'helping' to decorate. Every ones in a while, when I come home my lab decides to bring me a 'present' from a tabletop that is within his reach, but other then that it's all save...lol

Awww! But Karen, he is such a cute "decoration" himself--maybe a nice green scarf to celebrate his favorite holiday! LOL

Too Funny!!! I loved your post! Here are my thoughts. Either Brat Cat thinks he has a better sense of style than you or he just plain wants it to look awful so you quit doing it!!!!

Now, you have to lay the law down to him that in the area of table decor, that you are the expert, NOT HIM!!!

I did my St. Pat's table today. Valentines was up one month & 3 days. Enough RED already. I will post pics.

Don't let Brat Cat stop you from doing YOUR THING!!! LOL

Aw, Brat cat just wants to be part of the "design team"! The sooner you ask for his approval the better LOL We all know cats have a mind of their own! At least your cat is smart enough to not EAT your items...if my Yorkie, Toby could get to it he would have to "taste" it... TRUE DEFINATION: taste/mangle/destroy) Then he will look up at me with those innocent big brown eyes saying: "Well you left it too low".....it's YOUR fault!"

Yacht, trust me, Ty does NOT want me to STOP. He'd be heartbroken if I did that to him. LOL. Tho I sensed a sigh of relief from him while ago as I was taking down the Val stuff. Apparently "red" isn't his color.
Judith....of course its YOUR fault. You can't blame that sweet little dog if you put things too low.
Tam, if my youngest dog could get to my stuff, she'd have a blast doing the TMD thing Judith mentioned. I guess I'm lucky it only gets rearranged and occasionally hidden huh?

Karen, I will not let my "Toby" read your message, he is spoiled enough!LOL My DD constantly says that he "gets away" with too much..I think my 29 year old DD is a bit jealous LOL

Oh my Karen - that is one handsome cat - I would take him in a hearbeat. My 4 are pretty good at leaving things alone although one does like to sit on my lap when I am trying to do some embroidary and chase the thread. I agree with the others - he must be an Irish cat :D.......
