Shower curtain rod for angled walls, where or how??

We're tiling two showers, neither with two parallel surfaces to attach shower rods to. On searching the web, I found curved rods with "pivoting flanges," but curved rods won't do. Could one of those be retrofitted to hold a straight rod? Or is there something else made that would work? We could hang from the ceiling in one of them if someone knew where appropriate hardware could be purchased, and what it's called. Thanks for any help you can give.

Not sure what the setup is, but old claw tubs that had curtains hung around them had ceiling mounted suspense rods. I am not sure how that would look exactly likely not great...

What about curtain hardware that holds rods, used in a creative way...

Hi, Pepperidge. Both are possibilities for sure. After all we're just holding up a pipe, and in our rather old-fashioned layouts the pipes will be over doorways and hidden behind solid walls. I am wondering about rust and would prefer to buy something made for showers.

I just like curtains better than glass doors for us, so our master bath shower will have a cloth curtain framing its doorway and the plastic curtain inside. The other bath is a powder room with a shower for the occasional guest hidden behind a wood door, so in this case a curtain is just a way of making it work.

Does anyone have one of those pivoting flange units sold on curved rods?

Yeah, so, the web sites are next to useless. Forgot - I gave up trying to figure it out on Build.com and went to the Moen site, which isn't much better. After I selected, went back to Build.com to buy. My alcove is 58 & 3/8". If you filter on 'Shower Rods' and 'Chrome' (if that's the finish you want - see link below) you get 11 choices. (Note, if you filter on 'Curved Shower Rods' you only get 1 choice - go figure.) With the link below, you throw out the bottom two because they're tension rods and the double rod if you don't want that. Leaves 8. What's the difference besides the price and the end cap? When you check the description, it will say "adjustable for 5' to 6' alcove" - that's the tube within a tube kind. The ones that say "designed to fit a 5' surround securely" means it's a fixed size and you have to cut it if it's too big. Since 5' is 60", I went with CSR2165 and will have to cut off a little less than 2". CSR2166 is the same only for 6' opening (72") or less. With the curved rods, you don't want to be too far away. Cutting off too much won't work, unless you maintain the angle, although the pivoting mounting on some helps. Difficult to picture whether this would work, but could you do either one (if you could have some kind of bracket at the opposite side) or two (if you cannot have a bracket on the non glass brick wall) vertical (floor to ceiling or top of tub to ceiling) tension rod? - here is one with a shower caddy for $30 - (you could take the baskets off)- that extends to 9 feet high. It could go on the glass brick end of the shower as close to the wall as possible. You could figure out how to attach a horizontal shower curtain rod to it (with screws or other hardware). Then the opposite end of the shower curtain rod could either be attached to another vertical pole (again, floor to ceiling or tub top to ceiling) or some kind of bracket attached to the outside end of the wall opposite the glass brick wall. I can imagine some kind of metal hardware loop that would capture and hold the end of the shower rod, but cannot say for sure what would work. The best might just be two vertical tension rods with a horizontal shower rod screwed to them horizontally (with removable screw assembly for dismantling and storage until you need to use it in your beautiful shower). Hi, Our shower has an angled wall in one end. Currently there's a straight shower rod attached to the straight wall and to the angled wall via a swivel flange. The shower feels small due to the angled wall. I'm thinking about installing a curved shower rod to gain a little more space. Has anyone tried to use a swivel flange with a curved curtain rod? I'm not sure if the rod end would fit properly into the swivel flange. Thanks for you advice! Padmini

Carolyn - I can see a couple of reasons people are reluctant to drill holes into tile: 1. If a cheap rod is used it might get dented or rust and screws of replacement rods might not match the existing screw holes. 2. If the holes are situated below the shower head, you will risk that water will seep behind the tiles, leading to mold and all its accompanying messy and expensive issues. This potential problem can be avoided entirely by filling the drill holes with epoxy and insert the screws through the fresh epoxy. 3. Some people just don't want any holes in their expensive, beautiful tile. That said, we opted for screwing our rounded aviation-grade aluminum rod into the tile of our kids/guest bathroom. We will never need to replace it and we don't have to worry of a flimsy tension rod collapsing onto our kids or - gasp, guests taking a shower. Here a pic of our kids bathroom:

Would this from Ikea work? It says "Hinge in the fixture; makes it possible to change angle for more flexible use."

Sorry for the delay in coming back and saying Thank You! Thank you!, everyone! CTLady that's it exactly. It's now on order as it's exactly what we need for the master bath and probably for both; however, an angle/wall space in our little guest shower is so tight I've got that Ikea item tucked happily away in mind as a backup.

The tilers are busy at work, and it's looking nice, even with budget tile. Now I have to start shopping for a nice cream lace curtain to go on the outside...
