Ours is mounted on the tile deck and is inline with the spout. We had this same set up before we remodeled and both our Grohe's dripped. Not only that, on our old faucet there were times when someone forgot to release the diverter (?) and didn't seat the hand shower correctly and water would come rushing onto the deck. With our new remodel, the hand shower does sit over the deck of the tub, but it's sloped in such a way that most of the water drips back into the tub and the hand shower itself is much easier to seat back into place. When the water is on, the spray does miss the tub deck itself. However, I just checked and there is a little bit of spray that gets on the tile. Keep in mind though, that this is only if the hand shower is sitting in place and the diverter is activated and water is turned on. Otherwise, the tile is dry and only a few drips on the tub deck.

palimpsest the window near the ladder is getting its built-in window seat installed soon. The desk can't go there. I do not think we will put a lamp on the desk. We have a chandelier in that room and will use that. We don't really use a desk, we have laptops and ipads. I just like to have one to store papers and stuff in and because it looks pretty. Fun2BHere the angle of our ladder isn't adjustable. The cabinet makers made it and it stays at the length it is. Otherwise, I would do that. I like the idea of putting the desk at a diagonal. I can move the cane chair out and see if there's room for it there. I could also move the desk into the big bay window and put the couch along the wall where the cabinet is now that everyone agreed was too big for the space. So, couch here where cabinet is:

I think I would prefer it where it is in the floor plan. Why? (1) It pulls the refrigerator away from the ovens so there's no problem with open refrigerator + open oven + someone in the trying to get by ... although that probably won't happen often (2) I like the bigger pantry space (3) It's still a straight shot to the refrigerator from the sink and to the range (although the island is a barrier if you plan on working on the sink side of the island - but that will be the case regardless) A couple of other things... The corner...I would make it a 90-degree cut corner cabinet, not a diagonal. It frees up floor space near the range as well as gives you more space to work. I realize it's an unusual corner b/c of the angled wall, but I still think it would be more useful overall if you put in an easy-reach cabinet in the corner of whatever dimensions will fit and have a 90-degree door. The cooktop or range(?) and adjacent cabinets...consider making the cabinet to the left of the range 18" wide and the one to the right 10" wide (or whatever will fit). It would give you more workspace as well as emergency landing space on the left and with the 90-degree cut corner cabinet, you will have 10" + 12" of space to the right b/f the corner. Trash...if possible, I would move the trash pullout to the left of the sink so it's easily accessible from the Prep & Cooking Zones - and where it is need far more! With the current location, you have to cross the Cleanup Zone to get to it and you have a long reach to the DW from the sink. Are you modifying the window? If so, just shift the window. If not, with the corner modification I think you will gain space to the left of the sink. If it's not quite 18" (I can't tell for certain), consider aligning the sink with the right edge of the window (so it looks planned/deliberate) to make room for the trash pullout. Undercounter oven (under cooktop)...First, do you really need it? Second, unless your entire family is short, I think you will find that it's not as easy to use as the oven in a range...it's much closer to the ground than an oven in a range. Installing it under a cooktop will make it even lower! Instead, consider double ovens in the tall cabinet and a MW drawer elsewhere (in the island, perhaps). You will only need a 24" wide cabinet. If you stick with it, check to be sure your chosen oven and cooktop can be installed together like that...not all can safely be installed this way and/or cannot be installed this way without voiding warranties.

I appreciate everyone's feedback. Unfortunately I don't have the dimensions of the slab as that information was not provided to me. The slabs were selected a few months ago so it seems there has been ample time to have realized a second seam was needed based on the layout. I didn't select the fabricator - it is who my contractor uses. I obtained bids and interviewed several contractors. I had glowing recommendations from multiple people. The contractor raved about the fabricator and showed me several examples of their work that were very high quality. I started to feel less confident when I arrived for the mapping and felt rushed through the process and they could not provide an explanation as to why a second seam was necessary. I recognize that sometimes there are considerations that the average homeowner might not take into account, so I would have liked it explained to me with sufficient time to change to something different if necessary. If I hadn't insisted on attended the mapping, I would not have known of the second seam until installation. If the countertop was fabricated with one seam as originally planned, the largest piece would be 7'6", which doesn't seem unusually large to me, but there may be information that I don't have. Thanks again for the feedback. It's been a tough process and I spent alot of time planning and researching and am upset to think of being disappointed in one of the most visible parts of the kitchen. Thought I had done adequate due diligence and planning.
