Just remember with that living room you aren't going to put much furniture up against the walls so that compresses the actual space you have in there. That may not bother you.

I would include a mudroom or back entry somewhere (maybe in the storage area?)

Do you have kids? If so how many, how old and what sex? The bathroom might be a little tight (can't really tell how big it is).

Something just feels a little off with how it is laid out for the master bedroom entrance. Doesn't it sort of feel like you are going through the back to get to it? I would maybe try to offset that feeling by building up the entrance to the back hall, and also bulking up another "entrance" toward the garage/powder room so that you first have a little back hall grand (small) foyer. I don't really know how to describe what I am saying (not an architect), but I'd try to make that space a little more cozy, and less cold. I think as it is now, it could be kind of cold. And, that isn't how I want to enter my master.

Also, some families will not like to have infants all the way across the house. This is certainly true with this layout because your master door doesn't even open toward the other rooms... Your Master is large enough to put a baby in your room with you, but for how long? (ours were with us for longer than 1 yr, btw). So, think about that. Your wife may not mind walking the full length of the house to get to an infant, but it should definitely be in your consideration.

Also, I think, if you walked in from the foyer and looked left, you'd see.... hall bathroom! yay! maybe rearrange that wall just a bit to avoid sightlines into the bath.

This plan really has no drop zone. Anyone (kids) coming in the house are likely to drop all their crap right on your nook table or infront of your master bedroom door. If you aren't going to have the side porch, but have the space on your lot, then I'd definitely reconfigure the garage entry space to include a drop zone-like area. (mudroom/cubbies, hooks, counterspace for purse, etc).

What climate are you in? This plan lacks a foyer hall closet. (maybe under the stairs?) Whether or not that is adequate will depend on your climate and visitors. Also, the back hall is lacking in this respect as well (no mudroom/hooks/shoe/boot/etc storage).

If you're planning on kids relatively soon, this isn't the plan for you. You need to be relatively close and you need to be able to hear those rooms, at least while they're small. They won't want you so far away and emotionally you're not going to want to be so far away at night. The master is a loooong way from those bedrooms - that's a lot of back and forth. When they're older, they'll want THIS floor plan hah.

You've got plenty of room to reconfigure the master area and add a small "office" area to it that can serve as a nursery room for an infant through early toddlerhood. I'd swap the master area with the garage entirely. I'd want the master area to be more secluded and private to the rear, while the more public garage space was located towards the front. I would really really hate having a tub right there at the front porch or facing the street. Yech! Must better to face the fenced back yard and some pretty landscaping!

I'd also bump out that tiny breakfast area all the way to the edge of that covered porch. It would give it some light, and then you'd have room to place a door to the exterior in it's side, which will give you better access from the family and kitchen areas to the outside. Going around the corner and through the hall with an armload of ribs to get to the grill just wouldn't do it for me.

Your great room is also a bit on the small side once you start plugging in furniture and deal with the traffic pattern lanes that will need to be left open. Where do you plan to put the TV? On the stair wall, or above the fireplace? Think about what that does for your traffic.

One of my personal pet peeves is having the cleanup sink on an island. Especially in a space where you have plenty of room to get it off of the island. What's up with that wierdly placed and in your face pantry? It would be much better to use the whole kitchen space to help you to create a bit of separation between the great room and food prep space and after the master is reconfigured, use that storage space as a pantry off the hall to the garage, which will now be much closer.

Either do away with the front porch, or make if a usable size. As it is, it's too shallow and won't add anything to the home except a dry place for visitors to wait for you to open the front door. You want at least 10' in depth if you want to be able to sit out there in some adult sized chairs or maybe a small table and chairs.

As a mom with 3 kids, ages 7,5, and 1... I do not think your bedroom is too far from the kids rooms. Our kids BRs are the same distance as yours and I do not have a problem. I just use a monitor for the little one.

I would consider making the breakfast area larger since it is a main path for traffic flow. I agree with reworking the laundry/garage entrance to make room for a "drop zone" or mud room function.

The kitchen needs to be re-worked a bit - pantry is very odd. Kitchen forum should be helpful. I would consider turning the master bath and closet by 90 degrees so you do not have a front window into your bathroom.

If you plan to spend time on the front porch/place furniture, you should consider a depth of 8' - 6' will feel tight.

Good luck with the build! It is best to make lots of revisions to the plan before starting to build. You are on the right track.

Have you considered anything like this for the master area? It swaps the position of the closet and the bathroom and rearranges the bathroom a bit. It won't work if you are set on that corner tub, but if you just want a jet tub, you could center one in this area with a big window above it. I'm not sure on the scale, so you would have to play with that, but maybe this could give you some additional ideas. I hope that closet width is after sheetrock. If not, you may want to see if you can steal a few inches from the bathroom. 6' is the bare minimum according to some, but many say 6'3" should really be the minimum for hanging clothes on both sides.
