Yesterday's finds

Hi All, I took a friend to lunch for her birthday yesterday, and then stopped at a couple of TS on the way back home. Thought you might like to see my bargains. I also got a book that I forgot to photograph called "Home Accessories with Style" that is sort of fun.

The bunny figurine was $1.98 with 20% off, and the other three items were only 99 cents each. Thought I would hang the family words in the hallway where I am hanging a group of pictures. Enjoy.

Yeah, Lori! I thought Holidays had gone into a coma! I like your finds, and love the leaf plate..looks like a good size too.

Thanks for the good suggestions ladies. The little cow butter dish is intended for a friend who collects cow items. Yachter, the tiny teapot is just an ornament--it looks like a cinnamon roll with icing dripping on it. The bell has little raised roses on it--not sure why I thought I needed it--but it was cute! Dreamgoddess, I can't seem to leave a rose plate behind! LOL Pasula, This is book #10 in that Spirit of Christmas series. I really need to find #1 so I will have 1-10 now. It has been fun hunting for them. I really need to find out how many were printed in that series so I know whether to watch for more or not. Kathleen, you can't tell in my lousy picture, but the two little plates are by Debbie Mumm and guess what???? They have acorns in the design! That's mainly why I bought them! Wish they would have had four instead of only two. Mo, Sandi, Blue and Karen, I like your idea of using ornaments instead of the candles on that little tree. When I drag all my Christmas decs out, I will have to play with it. Just couldn't leave it behind at only $1.99 plus 20% off! It is almost as fun sharing pics of my "treasures" with all of you as it was hunting for them. ;o) Luvs

I have a sofa that is all down and an absolute cloud for cuddling into. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, sort of Alice-in-Wonderlandish with mixed up fabrics and trims, but an all-time favorite of ours. It's made by Zimmerman. I'm wondering if the Domain sofas were, too. So that manufacturer may be something to look out for, if the CL one doesn't pan out. Some of my favorite meals have been prepped and cooked in the galley kitchen of a 27ft sailboat. I think any small kitchen should take tips from boat or rv kitchens. Altho compact planning and proper stowing is key! A small kitchen needs an organized user and benefits from meal planning. A cook who uses mostly fresh ingredients for not much room for frozen and canned produce to be stowed. Also 1 dish meal recipes are a great idea for smaller kitchens they need less tools and are less clean up.

Hello All, Thanks for your help. I have heavily mulched the plants and modified my watering routine to a drip line instead of a sprinkler which I was using in early spring, partly to prevent wasting water (although we have ample water - bore and a rainwater tank which overflows - I still have a conservation mentality from drought stricken NSW) and partly as a prevention measure to stop powdery mildew, blossom end rot, etc. I also keep the weeds cleared and plants thinned to promote air circulation. We had a lot of rain in November, interspersed with hot, dry days, so uneven moisture could have contributed to the problem. I've been removing spent blossoms as soon as they will easily detatch from the formed fruit as an experimental preventative measure for blossom end rot. I've since picked two good sized squash which were perfect (and delicious!) so this may be helping. The zucchinis, however, still struggle on, so I will be adjusting my planting calender for the coming seasons. Thanks Moreton and Ray, and I've found the Eden seeds planting guide as suggested. I'll also experiment with some hand pollination as I do notice an absence of honey bees around here. I've noticed a different type of bee in the garden, which is perhaps less efficient a pollinator. Locals tell me that zucchinis are hard work here, requiring constant spraying, a thing I will not do unless any harmless, purely organic sprays are known. My husband and I suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome for years, making us highly sensitive to chemicals, so now I don't take any chances with our health. We are two of the very few who recovered. Again thanks for your help, I'll take it all on board and hopefully will have good results to report.

ahhhhh I'm wantin' to arm wrestle Jenn for the floral plate....it is so pretty!! I like the yellow leaf too...I have part of a wall in my kitchen that is painted that color!!

Oops! I think Kathleen thought this was Yachter's post maybe. We are all used to her great yard sale finds.

Jenn and Jaybird, I couldn't believe that floral plate was only 99 cents! It is so soft and muted, yes it does look old but there are no markings on the back so don't know anything about it.

Sal, I've got a couple of those multi-picture frames in black on the hallway wall already, and I just picked up three more black frames that will hold 3 3x6 pics each. Figured these black letters would tie them all together well, and it was only 99 cents too.

My favorite (in addition to the floral plate) was the bunny figurine. Really trying to resist buying more bunny things, but this one is so soft and pastel looking that I couldn't resist it.

Can't wait to see what neat stuff Kathleen found at the outlet.

Kay-Luvs, ya done good ! That plate is really beautiful. I think the Family word is my favorite thing tho. It will look great with your photos. You'll have to share a picture of that wall when done.
I hit Goodwill and found some neat stuff too, will have to get pix.
I still haven't decorated for St Pats yet, I bought stuff last year for first time, but don't have a lot. I decided not to get more right now since Easter so close to it, and I really want to haul out all my Easter goodies. I went overboard last year on them I think. LOL. I did stop in Dollar Tree today to see what they had for Paddy's and virtually nothing to my surprise!!! But some ladies in there buying silk flowers to decorate for Easter they said, and they are skipping the Green this year cause of the two being so close. Hmmmm....... nah,I can't do that to Brat Cat when he loves the leprechauns so much.

Jenn, I was really surprised too--expected it to be like $2.99 at least. Just never know--depends on who is doing the pricing. The plate "feels" like a couple of white ones that I have that were made in England--sort of "thinner" and "fragile". Anyway, I'm really happy to have found it. (I don't NEED anymore plates or cups/saucers but just can't pass them up when they are so pretty.) Wish I could paint the soft fluffy roses like the ones on my plates. They just make my heart "happy". LOL

Kathleen, you are sooooo funny. I don't have many St. Pat's decos, but I wouldn't dream of "skipping" it. LOL Only time of the year that I decorate with green.

I like your cute little guy--I've got one too, I'll have to dig him out soon. Oh, and don't forget to bring Stud up and dress him in his St. Pat's finery. ;o) Luvs

Ahhhh, Stud, you make my heart go pitty-pat.
And Kathleen, send that leprechaun right over to my house, Ty would LOVE him for sure. Mine are tiny and plastic, if he saw a big stuffed one he'd be in heaven. LOL

I stopped in at Ross yesterday after running out to buy dog food. Found a funny little leprechaun that made me laugh. Now I'm getting eager to get to work on putting stuff together for my table--but I WAS going to WAIT until at least the first of March! (No, you don't get to see him until I decorate!) LOL
