OMG, I get it!!! Not my style, but I can totally understand wanting to change everything for those beauties. I do remember Domain. It is too bad they couldn't sustain themselves. The throw pillows alone would probably cost a thousand bucks!

Good to know you get it Amy. :) Sigh... I guess they really are dated. ( ;) ) I dream of having fabric sofas, layered fabric sofas, some day. With a very messy DH and 19 month old, 3 cats, and two step sons, it just isn't going to happen for awhile (unless I can find a deal like those and they actually match my rooms). The leather sofas in the family room keep me from killing them. :)

I am tempted to call DH to measure a spot in our bedroom since the auction is ending soon, but I know he will think I am crazy!

I am guessing some of the print fabrics run at least $100 per yard or more. And the seats and pillows look down filled too! I would offer less. Maybe they would be happy to move it quickly?

Playing devil's advocate here...You don't know how high the other bidder is willing to go. You also don't know whether there are any lurker bidders waiting until the last minute to place their bid. The other bidder may have already bid way over $1000, but the seller's reserve is $999, so that's where the bid starts. How high would you be willing to go for these sofas? $1500? $2000?

Yes, Ebay can be scary, I found out the hard way. I was just fooling around and typed in a bid, came back later and the minutes were ticking down - my bid was still the highest. YIKES! I really wasn't intending to buy! I never even did Eba before! Too late. "Congratulations, you are the winner!" Ugh. I loved the armoire and still do, but the shipping and handling cost nearly as much as it did.

Oh, I would place my top bid for those and then just wait and see. New color schemes are good and the fabrics will hide a multitude of sins! ;)

I copied the photo of the sofa, maybe someday I can get my old pieces reupholstered like it or similar. Thanks for posting.

My sister has that couch. As I recall it was like $8000 purchased from Domain. It wore horribly. Totally out of shape and uncomfortable. After five years, it now resides in the playroom.

Just looking at the photos of the seat cushions would give one great pause - they are out of shape, the covers donâÂÂt fit nicely, and they look like they donâÂÂt sit well on the deck of the pieces. Just because something was high-priced doesnâÂÂt mean it is high-quality.

kelly and les noticed the same thing I did! I would be wary just based on how the seat cushions look.

If it makes you feel any better, I think the sofas would make your color scheme choices very limited.

lol. y'all crack me up. Well, I didn't bid. If it had some blue in it I might have. :) They sold for $999 - one bidder. I will just keep looking. I was really looking for a sectional for my family room but found them while I was looking.

I've always liked the look of those multi-fabric Domain sofas too. They do come up occasionally on my local Craigslist, so you might keep your eye out on CL to see if you can find them in your area if you're still dreaming about them :)

In addition to Auntjen's caveat, there could also be bed bugs in them there sofas! ( I really know how to throw cold water, huh? Trust me for your daily dose of paranoia!) So, you have a lot of reasons to feel good about not purchasing. At the end of the day you saved a thousand bucks that you can put toward a really perfect, dreamy sofa.

Well, maybe they are more common then I thought, or maybe people just change things up at the beginning of the year. :) There is another Domain set up on CL right now. I am debating going to see it. it is a pretty yellow that is probably not everyone's cup of tea, but I do like it and I think I could make the chaise work in my MBR and the couch and chair in the basement.

I can't go see it today, but maybe tomorrow if it is still for sale.

I have a sofa that is all down and an absolute cloud for cuddling into. Definitely not everyone's cup of tea, sort of Alice-in-Wonderlandish with mixed up fabrics and trims, but an all-time favorite of ours. It's made by Zimmerman. I'm wondering if the Domain sofas were, too. So that manufacturer may be something to look out for, if the CL one doesn't pan out. I don't see mine on the site (it's five years old now), but here are some ideas.

Kitchen detective that is exactly who made the sofas for domain! I am so tempted for this last set. I have to go home and measure though and they may be gone by tomorrow. I like that this set is less red and I love the yellow.
