Comments (29)Gary - "Ignorance is bliss?" Really? on this blog? Out with it! I LOVE information, that's why I've been living on this blog for two weeks, even though I left a family behind somewhere. And yes, the Electrolux Icon IS beautiful, but they only come in 30" wall ovens, not 27". Why did they have to change the styling on the Wave Touch? I love everything about it, the blue interior, the glide out racks, the door that closes like a Mercedes, but the styling is too much for me, like an Escalade, maybe. I can't get the 30" because of layout restraints in the kitchen, I like the idea of two smaller ovens for when I'm just baking a pie, and I don't want to buy two single ovens because it's too expensive. Thusly decisions get made. Eventually. I hope. I'm going back to the showroom today with DH (funny - those happen to be my DH's real initials), and will look at the Bosch one more time. Some people on GW say "Never!" about Bosch ovens. I have their washer and dryer. Don't love them. They look boss, but the rubber seal on the front loader gets black mold no matter how much I wipe it down and the dryer, if I dry a bed sheet with clothes, wraps everything into a parcel with damp clothes inside. Rob - I love the styling on the KA ovens, but like the Bosch, they don't get great reviews. The new ones, that is. Thanks to all for posting! Will let you know, I'm making my decisions and moving on to the Kitchen blog for countertops... Anyone here want to weigh in before I go? I'm not a granite girl, but I do like slate... And recycled glass......See MoreMiele floor model vs new Bosch? Stove/cooktop is next!!
Comments (70)SO, there was no word from Mr. Appliance today AND Miele was also unable to reach him ??? Did they not offer to put you on their in house guy's sched. at that point ? Do not disagree with you about EXPECTING a working DW - floor model or not. However, you didn't get that and there is no going back to square one. It's like a wrecked car - it's not EVER going to be unwrecked. You chose to pursue a remedy and that's what has turned into a fiasco! I'm not convinced that if you had gone in on the 9th ( which makes it only 20 days, not a month) that FL Builders wouldn't have stonewalled you then too. Perhaps they would have convinced you to have it repaired and they would have sent their "guy" who just may have been from your favorite: new york minute - then how much agro would you be writing about. Additionally, your first contact with the actual manufacturer who underwrites the warranty was on the 15th or 16th making it 5-7 business days depending on how you count em. Now 7 days doesn't exactly make me feel all warm and fuzzy but it's not an eternity either. I'm more concerned @ MR. Appliance going AWOL and Miele's inability to get movement. The svc. cntr. is still open the left coast crowd - maybe another call to them for an explanation @ Mr. App. at least. Maybe they'd bump you up their guy's list - though the person to make that happen won't be in until tomorrow on the East Coast. "What silly things have I done? " Not exactly silly , but going back to the unhelpful , and stonewalling dealer to expedite the repair and alter the terms of the deal ( xtended warranty refund ) was not your finest moment. I understand you wanting to be rid of this mess, and I hope you can get you $$$ quickly - but prepare yourself for another battle with FL. B and your cc co. If it (battle) doesn't happen, great - but you'll drink less and have fewer grey hairs if in fact it shakes out that way. Remember the dealer experience when they wanted your $$$ - think about how they'll act when asked to give it back to you ! Be sure to get EVERYTHING IN WRITHING from the dealer when returning the DW....See MoreDiva and Miele Induction cooktops, Gaggenau and Miele Ovens
Comments (4)Did you try the appliance forum? I haven't seen the new Miele 3 element, but their other models have true timers and 17 power levels (hidden in the programmable features), whereas Diva, as of a few months ago, had 9 power levels only, and said they had no plans to have either. Both are high quality products with good reputations for reliability and customer service. Both Miele and Gaggenau are excellent ovens as well. I'm completely familiar with model numbers, but as I understand it, Miele ovens are known for the system where you choose what you're cooking and the oven figures out the settings. I'd be concerned about the side opening of a Gaggenau oven in an undercounter installation. The obstruction of a drop down door seems like it would, by creating a barrier, be safer, whereas the side swing seems like it would be more easily disregarded and perhaps become a tripping hazard, down where people's legs are. Both are efficient and precise ovens. Gaggenau are known more for their engineering than customer service. If you have a local Gaggenau service center, they're great. Otherwise, you might have to work harder to get a good response--it's not that you won't, it just might take longer and take more effort on your part. Miele has an excellent customer service reputation, and are especially pleased if you have one of their certified installers do the installation. They give you an extra year of warranty to encourage it. In other words, you've spec'd excellent units. Choose the features you like the best and I'm sure you'll be very happy with whatever you end up with....See MoreStuck on color... or lack of it.
Comments (29)Thank you Lynn. Now I'll put my "work" hat on: ) I'm at your home. "Okay.....we have a floor, beautifully executed and clearly an intensive labor of love. if you will forgive my analogy, we'll pretend this floor is one of your kids. You love this kid. He/she has been with you since seemingly FOREVER. Still is. But now, you'd like a space less shared, an office or craft room in that kids bedroom space, or EVEN a completely different home all brand new. Perhaps that's in a different locale, city state or country. He/she won't leave and fully get on with their own life. .......... This kitchen floor is that scenario/kid. Do you love it enough to work around it. Not a half measure of "maybe" we shall change it later. Does it stay, or does it go? Do you love it enough to do a soft white cabinet with simple soapstone tops? Beautiful warm brass hardware, and pendants? Do you love it enough to do a pale gray island with those soft white cabinets at the perimeter? I ask , because this is what you said to me on the phone: "We are remodeling our kitchen and in that process have decided to keep it light. Fifteen years of dark greens, slates and granite were just too much. We had narrowed the cabinet choices down to white or a light naturally stained wood. Recently, my husband who has a love of all things natural, pushed for the second choice. I was happy........I couldn't picture................" "I have already let go of my dream of a blue kitchen because of the slate floor." Back to ME, and my money making hat. In a word........'WHY?" In three words, WHY, WHY WHY? ..... and what sort of blue were you thinking...............?...See Morea2gemini
