Hardie Artisan lap siding
Comments (7)We have the Artisan siding in our build and we love the way it looks. Our house is a few weeks away from completion, so I can't speak to any significant experience with it. For us, the siding was available only as factory primed and we had to paint it on site. We did not do the mitered corners as our builder told us that would add to the installation cost significantly. He also said that the mitered corners could be susceptible to damage (if for example, you run into it and chip a piece off, etc.). For us, the cost difference between the thin siding and the Artisan was about $4,000....See MoreCost of Hardi Shake Siding vs Lap Siding
Comments (4)I wanted 5 squares of the shingle and 20 squares of the plank. For the ColorPlus Hardi, the 5 squares of shingle cost the same as the 20 squares of plank. I didn't love the shake that much! I did not price the regular Hardi, only the ColorPlus. I see a lot of houses with shingles, so I doubt that the cost different is as dramatic....See MoreMacadamia Nichiha Shake Photos
Comments (57)Hello there! We are in the early phases of construction and are pretty much sold on the Nichiha shake siding product. Like persnicketydesign and others, we would be the guinea pigs in our area for "macadamia" if we go that way (deciding between that and "maple"). Houses we've visited in person look soooo different than in the photos (and even in the samples), it scares us a little. For example, from the photos and samples we were convinced that we would go with "caramel" to achieve a nice natural cedar look. When we saw a whole house in caramel, we were disappointed... it had a pronounced plasticky sheen and it just looked like a big orange house. Then we saw a house done in "maple" - which we didn't like in the samples - and it looked much more natural. So maybe just a few questions to help us interpret the photos, if you would be so kind! Do you get much of a sheen with the macadamia color? Was it lighter or darker than you expected? The samples have a little bit of a pinkish hue... does that show on the house or does it dissipate over a large surface? Do you see some variation in texture or does it end up more of a flat beige or tan? That's pretty much it, thanks so much in advance for any insight you can provide. Your house is beautiful... really tasteful detail, less is more. Nicely done :-) Stephan (sr@vm1.com)...See MoreAged Pewter Hardie lap siding- does it look brown?
Comments (17)I feel like this color always goes one of three ways for me. Either it’s very grey or it pulls green and then sometimes just a touch of blue comes out. We are considering this color on a colonial style home....See MoreBrian_Knight
