Sharp Microwave Drawer
Comments (18)No it was new, purchased in end of April 2017, installed in July of 2017. Fire on Oct 24, 2017. No cabinet damaged, thank goodness!! I was melting butter in Pyrex, 12 seconds in it made a weird rattling noise then all this black smoke started pouring out. I stood there in a bit of a panic about to dial 911 (that’s how thick the smoke was). Had extinguisher on hand and decided to open drawer, cleared smoke out and well butter was still cold. It was so weird. Glad it happened to me and not one of the kids. I have had some bad luck with almost all my new appliances but this one wins for the worst and the worst customer service....See MoreSharp Microwave Drawer
Comments (5)We have it and it works fine. Overall we like it. After install though I wish I had paid more for the one without the handle, and put it in a 27” cabinet. That way it would be flush, and I think it would look better. Plus, ours is right beside our fridge (biggest design mistake we made) and the fridge door bumps the microwave handle. This wouldn’t have been an issue with the one without the handle, and would have been less an issue if the cabinet was big enough for a flush mount. Goes in the category of “things you learn from your remodel”....See Morephoto of sharp microwave drawer with deflector vent installed?
Comments (8)The deflector is used when doing a flush installation. From the drawing it appears that the deflector is installed correctly. The problem might be with the depth of your overhang. I have a 3/4" overhang with my inset cabinets. Maybe its best to remove the deflector and pull the MW proud of your cabinetry. http://files.sharpusa.com/Downloads/ForHome/HomeAppliances/MicrowaveDrawerOvens/InstallationGuides/TINSEB541MRR2_2430_in_Flush_Kit_insall_En.pdf...See MoreCountertop overhang for Sharp microwave drawer
Comments (8)This is covered on page 3 of the Installation Instructions. If the countertop extends out 1", the control panel will be fully exposed because that is a bit less than the thickness of the oven door (1-9/64" as shown by Item H in figures 2 and 6). If the countertop extends out further, the oven would have to be lowered. Given that the location of the oven is already inconvenient, it would seem to me to be best to limit the overhang to 1" to prevent having to push the oven even closer to the floor....See Moresarayale
