I measured the space from front to back under the sink and it's 24". According to Yahoo! Answers that is standard depth for a base cabinet. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061016195518AAVAB32 I will lose one drawer to the right of my current bar sink to get the length that I want (36" - 42") The most fitting one so far seemed to be the Houser Novus, as the dual ledge / sliding system would be just perfect for certain types of prep I do often. However when I looked at the spec PDF, even though it said the sink was 18" wide, the cutting board that fit on top of it was only 15 3/4". I called 3 custom stainless places, and they all said that I would be shocked at how expensive a custom stainless sink is. If I have to go the custom route, maybe granite would be the way to go. Here is the concept of what I'm looking for, on steroids. It was featured on HGTV a couple months ago. I'm surprised scaled down versions of this are not common in small kitchens in order to turn part of the sink into a prep space. It might've been your email that made me start looking at these sinks. I looked at both of these, and the Kohler Indio is kind of what I'm interested in: It comes in a variety of finishes, not just stainless steel -- and it isn't gigantic. I think I know what it is that attracts me to these sinks: - Undermount sink with a "lip" that can hold a cutting board at countertop level, which means it has to be square (or square-ish) in shape. The other accessories are nice but not as nice as the cutting boards. - Large, but not outrageously huge. - Not industrial in look.

My Moen Brantford prep faucet is about 13" high, taller than you mentioned but it fits very well under my upper cabinets which are about 18" over the counter. It's a high arc with a pullout sprayer and a single handle. It's a traditional(ish) design, but you might look at Moen's other prep/bar faucets if you prefer a more modern style. (p.s. The prices listed on the Moen and Kohler sites are higher than they are in the real world -- just in case you hadn't already realized that and in case it helps.)

Kirstyteg--LOVE your sink setup! Those countertop height windows with views are so luscious too! I am ordering a ledge sink by creategoodsinks for a new build and would love your insights now that you've been living with one of Dan's creations: -It’s funny—when my sink-hunt first started, I thought 32” would be plenty….long story short, after getting hooked on ledge sinks, I’m now considering a 56” model, so about 6” wider than yours (will go in a 13’ island)—does that width sound like overkill, or if you had the space, would you take the additional 6”? -I don’t know whether I should do 1 faucet or 2 (we'll have a second 24” sink by the window, so not sure how often we’ll have two of us working at the big sink). Do you think you could function well with just one faucet, or do you find yourselves using the second one often? And if you find the second one highly useful, would you have the faucets be identical (both with pull-out sprayers) or have a big spraying one, supplemented by a second bar-type faucet? -As an aside, I'm debating between 38" and 39" high counters (5'10" tall), and noticed your lovely higher countertops. Does 38" suit you or do you think another inch would've been beneficial?
