Hi Martin, The figs that my relative dried had the skins still on after the drying process. The water you see in the background is the Mediterranean Sea. Bari the area your fig tree came from is the opposite coast line and just a little north of the area in the photos. Somewhere around I have a photo of a string of those figs. I'm the only one in my family that would spend time taking photos of figs!!! If I locate it IÂll post it and if memory serves me well I believe it shows the figs rather well. I hope this coming season your tree will bless you with at least a fair amount of both the briba and the second fall crop. Lou NE., PA

Well, I'm not exactly sure if the tent helped or not because we had several days of even colder weather (below 32F) the following nights after the 6" of snow. Some unknowns faired better than others. Older figs seem to be bouncing back a little better than younger ones. The fig that seems the most hardy is the big Celeste that I was not able to cover because it is too big. Some leaves got burned but some did not and the brebas look intact for the most part. I think most of the brebas on the other figs are gone for this year. I am beginning to worry about a few of my figs that don't seem to be trying to put out another set of leaves. One of my small tasty unknows has definately been damaged. The only good thing is that I can go right back to the source and hack off another partially rooted limb and start over. I did it during the Summer last year and actually got some good growth before Fall. It was opening leaves and pushing out brebas before the freeze....but not anymore.Nicking the bark lower down still shows some fresh green so maybe its not completely dead?

OK...I still dont' think I'm being clear enough. This thing is hard to explain. I'm talking about a large circle thing (not a donut to go around the wheel itself), but an actual circle with a sleeve that slips over the top & on that circle you can embroider, quilt, etc as a decoration on the front. This is something that you would remove before driving. I think I'm just going to have to play around with some measurements & fabric & see what I can come up with. I didn't see any freebie patterns on the web or in the pattern books for this. Was just hoping to find some extra insulation for my steering wheel since it gets so hot even with the sun shade up. It was 108 today & my battery decided today was the day it would die.

We are having a heat wave. it's about 2pm and its 90 degrees in the shade. I have to remind myself that I am lucky I have AC and can run it at will. I'll be 75yo this week and I bought myself an electric guitar, the thing is, I don't know anything about music, let alone a guitar. But it is so good for my brain to learn something new, that I'll keep practicing. There are some super videos for beginner players on the net. DD and GS are coming on Saturday to help me celebrate my B-day. There is a method to my madness. When I'm done with the guitar, I'll give it to my GS. His dad is a great guitar player, so GS will have a good teacher. I have just about finished two guest rooms. I shopped mostly from our house, nothing fancy, but I hope our guests will be comfortable. DH has a very old car, the benefit is that it has very few computer features, so he can fix just about anything else. The other benefit is that the older the car, the less we pay in registration fees. We've saved a lot of money over the years. My favorite necklace broke, and I'm looking to make one with the beads I bought at an estate sale for $4.00, I have to go and buy some spacer beads, but I have everything else I'm looking for some cooler weather, LOL, rob, you asked.
