Comments (31)alishaes - have you made your decision yet? Sorry for my delayed reply, I just saw your question. I agonized over a roof decision because every roof I viewed look different than the samples I received from Certainteed. We opted for Charcoal, but upgraded to Pro....it was only an extra $700 and the warranty was much better for such short money. I could not be more happy with my choice! Even though Charcoal is the darkest option, it's not TOO black. Also, it doesn't have SO much variation that it looks super busy. I'm not home because we're living at my parents' during the renovations, but if you're still undecided I'll try to get you some pics....See MoreButler's Pantry Decision Help Needed Quickly - Pics Included
Comments (12)Thanks for the pictures. This is one of those occasions where it really will be fine, whatever you do. You have a very complex and detailed door style, however, and you're going to add to that with glass in the center. This might be a good occasion to decide that more is enough, and more-is-more is too much. I, personally, would even rethink the glass. It might be nice for brightening up the area, especially if you're going to light the cabinet, but the repetition of forms in your picture with them all at the same level is pleasing to the eye. I think that repetition gets lost in the ones that are raised, and will be even more lost with the glass. BTW, with the ones raised and brought forward, do you have trim to fill the space on the sides, behind the center cabinet? If not, that's a no-go....See Moreneed advise quickly!
Comments (5)Roughly, the standard is uppers 18" off the counters. There is debate about whether that should include the light-rail or not. If your counters are 37", it's just as standard to go up 18" to the bottom of the cabinet without making any allowance for the light rail - making a total of 55" with an open clearance of around 16.5". You might own some appliance which would play a part, so look carefully at not only what you currently own, but roughly how big "whatever" is - like how large are mixers or coffee pots or microwaves - but you can go with 15-17" between the counter and the uppers (again without the light rail) if that makes the kitchen work better. Factor in your larger appliances, too. Something like an OTR micro might hang down too low or an over the ref cabinet might not come in the right height....See MoreShower Light Help - Need to know if safe!
