Since no one responded, I decided to take a trip to the Toto Boston showroom to see this tub (and actually sit in it). In case anyone is interested, it was very comfortable for me - I'm 5'4" and worried that the tub would be too long and I would slide down too far. but it seemed perfect for me - a comfortable recline. I just hope we can make it work in our remodel or I'll be very disappointed!

Your plumbing supply house appears to be right on this one. Take a look at the Kohler spec. sheet for the K-7161. On the 2nd page Kohler has written in that the 17" - 24" tub height means an overflow height of 14 3/4" - 21 1/2". From your tub dimensions, your overflow height is 15 1/4", so the K-7161 should be fine. Good job, though, double-checking everything - that's how problems are caught :).

That is not what american standard says, live_wire_oak: the universal design fits most bathtubs That drain is essentially a normal standard drain but with the overflow hole on top. It's not like the Archer drain from Kohler, for example. You do have to put up with an ugly American Standard logo on the front plate, though, which is more prominent than appears in the online photos. EDIT I would just email Am Stnd and ask them. I'm in the final stages of purchasing everything online for a hall bath remodel, and the only thing that has me a bit confused is the drain for the tub. I'm getting a Toto 1525 cast iron three wall alcove soaking tub. According to the specs, it is 16 5/16" deep, but all of the drains seem to be for a 14-16" deep tub or 17" or deeper tub. Which size do I get? Does anyone have the exact brand and model number of the drain they purchased for this tub? Thanks for any help! Beth
