'94 Cavalier Error Code?

My '94 Cavalier is setting the following codes:

DTC27 QDMB Fault

(When this sets, the cooling fan comes on and stays on) I have tested both relays with the gm tech 1. I have not been able to find what the code means.

While I was at it, I fould codes for my ABS system, the first two I think are because I removed the dash warning lamp years ago. Since I was able to test it now, I would like to find out what the codes mean. The ABS codes are:

11 lamp open

46h rear channel

87 ???

The ABS has not worked for years, no big deal but I would like to fix the fan problem.

Thanks,

Static

I replaced the temp sensor, still has the same problem.
Until I can figure this out, I have disconnected the cooling fan. The car never warms up with it running all the time.

Heater will NOT engage in normal no matter what. I often use wrinkle free for clothes, husband's dress shirts, sometimes towels. This will not allow a max spin though. I use extra white for white sheets/towels/socks. Usually with extra warm or hot temp and sometimes extended and/or prewash. I have used custom for kids' clothes warm with a max spin speed. I have used express for bathing suits/towels after a day of swimming. A little Vaska on express and everything is fresh for the next day. These items don't really need to be washed daily so express is great (30 minutes). I have used delicates/hand wash for ... well delicate items. This setting works great. More soaking less tumbling. I have used woolens for wool sweaters also great. I LOVE the comforter setting. It will "vent" the item(s) first - wet them thoroughly before it adds the detergent. Very smart. I almost always use the sensitive setting which uses a higher spin speed between wash and rinse and uses an extra rinse. I don't like too much residual detergent smell (if possible). I've used clean machine. I used table linens a few times for table cloths - not really sure what makes that setting good for them. They turned out just fine. The only program I was not thrilled with was the dress shirts one. It only does a medium spin and left the shirts quite wet. I prefer wrinkle free for them (but that's me). I have used prewash and extended. If items are noticeably dirty I use a prewash. I have used extended if I think they need a little longer tumbling. The more agitation the better the wash. Shorter cycles are not the answer for clean items. Gosh ... have fun and keep us posted on how it's going.

I'm currently trying to buy some fuses for a golf cart charger and I came across a very similar site - with a very different URL. Then today I was shopping for something totally unrelated and another very similar site, with a very different URL, popped up with an amazing price for the item. I got one reply email from them in regards to the original order. They insisted on iTunes payment. Then when I went back to the site to try to look up my order, my user name and password do not work so I can't confirm my order. The second email has gone unanswered since Thursday evening. I would be very leery of this site AND any site that looks like it and promises such great deals.

Just got done with the meeting with Project Manager and Framer.. As suspected the Project Manager did not understand what walls I was speaking about as he was only mentioning the kitchen wall.. I then began to mention all of the other areas noting that some were extremely minor while others, like the kitchen, stairs, and master bedroom walls, were a bit more important.. At this point both of their faces dropped and the plans came out.. They both began checking and measuring and in the end the Framer owned up that he misread the plans which offset everything else.. So they began scrambling around checking the walls and double checking.. According to them everything is fixable with the exception of two walls.. So here is a list of the modifications that will be made: The master bedroom wall that butts up against the stairs and master bathroom can only be shifted where the bathroom is.. The part by the stairs will have to be furred out to make it even with the part from the bathroom wall.. Closet wall that adjoins the master bathroom will be pulled out accordingly. Stair case will be re-framed to the correct specs. This will require moving beams in the basement. This also requires a wall on the first floor to be moved that holds up the floorjoists for second floor over the garage. To move this wall they will be sistering the floor joists of the second floor to extend them to the new wall. All bedrooms on second floor will be pulled out into the hallway as per plan. Master bedroom wall that adjoins the hallway will be moved in 5 inches to align with new staircase. Kitchen wall will be re-framed according to plan. Side entry door will be re-framed to adjust opening. Master bedroom window will be re-framed to adjust for wall movement. Master bedroom door opening will be re-framed to adjust for wall movement. Second floor hallway window will be re-framed to adjust for all movement. Parallam that runs between first and second floor above dining room will be moved to be even with wall that's to be moved with staircase. I think that pretty much covers all the changes.. Honestly, I don't know how this is all getting fixed.. Main beams are being moved that have framed walls sitting on top of them.. I just don't see how this can be structurally sound after its done and how it won't effect everything above.. I mean floor boards are nailed under the framing of second floor perimeter walls and they are moving beams below that are nailed and glued to them.. I have the mentality that once you open something up it is never the same as when you started.. Things loosen up, shift, etc.. I guess we will see what happens.. At least they took responsibility for their mistakes and owned up to it.. Let's just see how the adjustments turn out.. I just pray that they are not making changes that shouldn't be touched, although I can't see them alter something that would effect the structural integrity of the house or result in a poor quality result.... These are not the complete plans, but just to give you an idea of the work that is being changed..

Its not advisable to disconnect the cooling fan!

Try this. After you have replaced the temperature sensor (and reconnected the fan), erase the trouble code to see if this puts you back to normal operation.

I looked up the codes at work today, I found that the code 27 is Quad-driver module and it points to EGR purge solenoid or evap canister solenoid. Nothing to do with the temp sensor at all. I did try clearing the code, but it re-sets. The flow chart I have now says to cycle the purge solenoid (Make sure it works) I know that disconnecting the fan is not a good idea, but since I am in MI and it is all of 27 degrees today I don't think it is going to overheat. The problem is I don't have access to the tech1 scanner all the time, it belongs to a co-worker of a friend. I do have access to a tech2, but I can't find the correct cable adapter to use it. Based on the flow chart from alldata, I am going to check the purge solenoid and go from there.

Make sure you are chasing the right thing. If you can get the Tech I or II hooked up again see if you can see what is calling for the fan to turn. Like what temp. does the ECM see? Does the ECM see the AC on? Also look at the link below.

The relay is an electric switch;usually, maybe 99.99% of the time - for all I know - they malfunction in an open or off position..
But if the fan relay stays in the closed or on position, then this would explain why the fan stays on..
Switching relays is one method of checking this out..

And there are many reasons for this problem.
The electrical schematic is necessary..

The reason I think it is the egr purge solenoid is from what the alldata sites says for DTC27 QDMB fault

DTC 27 will set when QDMB Fault line:
Is "High" for 20 seconds or more
tcc is commanded "On" (My car is a stick, so this does not apply)
Battery voltage is greater then 10.5 volts

Action taken: The Malfunction Lamp (MIL) will illuminate, and the cooling fan will enable.

DTC test description:

Check to see if DTC27 was set as a result of the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve circuit

Check tcc operation

Check intergrity of EGR circuit up to the solenoid.

So from what I can see, it looks like the purge solenoid becuase when I had the tech 1, I did test the EGR solenoid (I had an old stored EGR code) I also tested both the A/C fan relay and the engine fan relay and I was able to start stop the fan from the tech 1. I did not test the purge solenoid because at the time, I did not know what DTC27 ment.

Provided the freezing rain stops when I get home, I am going to swap cars around and pull it into the garage and check that purge solenoid.

The thing that I can't understand, is why did GM have the cooling fan come on for an EGR system fault?

I changed out the purge solenoid and it fixed that problem, now it sets code 32. I have to check the lines to the EGR valve, alldata points to a plugged line. Sure is a pain for something I wish the car did not even have.
