Please help me with Identifying this Crystal Bowl!?

I purchased this bowl at a garage sale for 10.00 - I thought it was pretty! People who have seen it seem to think it is very expensive, and I would like to know what it is for my own curiosity now!

It is very heavy and Sharp..(the edges of the cuts)..beautiful prisims when held upto the light!

Any help with crystal/glass..type..worth.. would be appreciated!

American Brilliant period cut glass....made betweem 1880 and 1920...roughly.
Very very nice! The prices on these pieces has gone south a bit....likely now you couldn't get more than $120 for it, but 25 years ago they were selling for twice that if they were perfect.
Sorry I can't tell you the pattern nor the maker without a lot of research. Is there a signature on it anywhere? Maybe etched in the bottom, But perhaps near the rim?
Those pieces were made of high lead content glass, then the basic bowl was polished and hand cut using a diamond wheel. Very expensive to make. Rings like a bell when you flick it with a fingernail!!
Some of the makers wre Libby and Hawkes.

I have looked everywhere, and cannot find any markings what-so-ever....It truly is a beautiful treasure!

Thanks for giving me a starting point for some further research..Now that I now what to look for, I may try to find some simular items to display with this!

I have looked everywhere I know to find that mark....and I can't. But....there is something my memory about that pattern, I remember seeing it in gift shops and at household auctions when I first started buying "stuff". I think It was made about 1950 or later, and that there wasn't a set of dishes in that pattern, but I seem to remember a pitcher and wash basin with that pattern and I think what you have is a mineature wash bowl and pitcher. One of the things that makes me think it's so new is that it's "flow blue" colors....but the blue doesn't flow. sorry....doesn't help much beecause it's just sort of memory and hunch....but that's the best I can do for now. The bowl is not even a slightly good imitation of Ohio's Whirling Star. The stand however is the real thing. As for what is crystal and what is not....."crystal" sometimes describes lead glass.....which can be either molded or blown. Both pieces of this punch set are molded...pressed glass....and because I know what type of glass was used, not lead crystal. How about a picture of the cups? Three of the sawtooths have tiny little chips that you can feel but not really see and one has a smooth chip that just ever so slightly flattens the top of the tooth. There are a few minute little chips in a few of the cuts on the under side and some faint scratches on the bottom from wear. Unfortunatly I do not see any mark eched anywhere. Those slight dimples, though, seem to form a triangle or crown shape. I went to the site you recomended -- wow, what great info. From there I searched a few other sites and I found one piece for sale that looked almost identical to mine but in a round shape -- mine it seems is an orange bowl -- but that one was signed Clark. She is so sparkly now that I gave her a gentle washing!

It may be helpful to determine if the glass is soda-, lead-, or heavy-leaded crystal. In trying to date some Bohemian stemware, the Rakow Museum curators in Corning suggested I determine the specific gravity of the glass. Remembering my chemistry from back in college almost 50 years ago - yeah, I can do that.... Use Archimede's Principle to determine the *volume* of the piece. Select a proper vessel to hold the object and add enough water to cover. Mark that level. Then submerge the glassware and mark that level, too. The difference in the two will be the object's volume in cubic centimeters. Now weigh the object. Divide one by the other and the result is the specific gravity in grams per cubic centimeter. Soda glass will be on the order of 2.4 g/cc. Leaded glass is about 3.5 g/cc. Heavy leaded crystal will be 4.5+.... With this info, I was able to identify my stemware as Bohemian, 1840-1850. Sadly, no one is buying clear bohemian glass these days.... Cheers
