those are about the same colors as our den. we have dark wood panelling from the 70's in the den that is about your paint color. it looks OK in our house, but then again we already planned on removing the paneling and sheetrocking the den this summer, so maybe that is why it does not bother us.

paint is easy to change. if you REALLY want this tile, then have them install and see what it looks like to you. if you still don't like the combo, then repaint the room(s).

Oops. That is the cabinet sample on the tile the paint color is a creamy yellow beige. I should run over to the house and take a picture.

Man, I don't think that is bad. Really xoxosmom. I think the lighter walls are a nice contrast against the tile and pull the lighter color from them. What don't you like about it?

You have to do what makes you feel right, but I think that if you still like the tile, paint is an easy thing to change later if it doesn't grow on you...

Where all is this going, btw? That might affect your decsison also. Is it whole house or just in one room?

I think the paint in your current house brings out the tan and brown undertones in the tile. And the paint in the new house brings out the yellow undertones in the tile more. I like both combinations.

I think what is bothering you is that it's not what you are use to seeing. I definitely don't think it's anywhere near "bad". I think it will grow on you. If not, you can repaint later.

From your description, I was expecting something hideous and boy was I pleasantly surprised! That combo isn't bad at all. Wait to get the trim on and painted before you panic. A nice creamy white trim (like BM Mayonnaise) would look fantastic! Calm down - you're doing fine! ;)

I echo the above posters, that looks great IMO! Exactly what flash said: I see more yellow tones in the tile at the new house. It by no means clashes, and I think it looks nice! What are you seeing that you don't like?

I think it looks fine too... There will be baseboard between the floor and the wall color right? That will pull it all together.

Don't beat yourself up. Paint is an easy thing to fix if you decide you need to change it. This house building gig has so many decisions we can't be perfect on all of them- I worry about anyone with no regrets.

Just in case you need another poster in agreement, I say too that the paint in the new house brings out the lighter color in the tiles, and looks great, at least on my monitor. Lovely tile, too. Congrats on getting past your "panic attack", so common to all of us home builders.

I selected what I thought was the perfect color for our travertine floor (main level) and porcelain look tile (lower level) only to be shocked it was YELLOW! VERY yellow. The painter told me no big deal - it was just the tinted primer. I bought 8 quart pots figuring out the perfect one. Went with SW Moderate White. I would look great with your tile, etc too. Just in case you need another color to look over.

First, don't panic. Paint is easy to fix if you end up hating it. If you had to make a mistake somewhere, paint color is the place to make it. For what it's worth, from what I can tell on a computer monitor, I think the wall color looks perfect with that tile.

Second, WE HAVE THAT TILE TOO! I've never seen it anywhere else online or anyone else using it. We got that tile as a closeout for dirt cheap and I couldn't resist buying it, but I've been second guessing myself the whole time since it's the first thing I bought for the house.

Where are you using this tile? Can you PLEASE post a pictures when it's all installed? I'm dying to see it.

I'm with the other folks... A) Relax, it looks better than you think. B) The tile is "permanent", paint is easy to change. C) Remember that things can look very different 'en masse' compared to the way they look as a sample. D) Unless it affects the structural integrity, there is absolutely nothing in a house that is worth the stress of shouting about. Hug your hubby and let him hug you ~~ you can't see them, but hugs are the most important part of a home.

I agree with everyone else! I think it looks great! I panicked after they painted our walls! LOL! I was even posting on here that I was going to repaint them. Then the shock of the colored walls sunk in and with the exception of one very crazy neighbor so does everyone else! You did a great job! If I could offer one tiny bit of advice.....the house is certainly not worth fighting with your DH over! DH and I have not had 1 fight over our build (this forum has saved me LOL!). No really, at the end of it all meldynva is right, it is the hugs and love that make a home, not the color of the walls!! *wink*

Thanks everyone. Your right a home is so much more than paint colors and tile. Dh was having a stressful day and I was having a stressful day, so when I called to tell him my thoughts on the tile it started sparks.

They are laying the tile this morning (boy was I mistaken about laying the tile in a couple days). Yes, you guessed it, I am a little apprehensive. LOL, but not in the panicy state I was in. Que Sera Sera. I am running over this morning to talk with the tile layer about foyer tile placement and grout color, so I can post an update later.

Cork2win: Wow, It is a small world. We are using the tile throughout the house except the bedrooms. We have a very open floor plan in a ranch style home. I picked this tile because it was the size I wanted, I was told it is easily maintaned and we got a similar "close-out" price. I will post a picture when it is all done.

I think we made a huge error by building a 4 bedroom house for our family of 5, then finding out I was pregnant two weeks after we moved in. Two of the four kids share a room, and we have tried varying which two share, but it is always a sore point for whomever is sharing. Even a 3 bedroom would have been better, because then everyone would have to share. We didn't spend the extra $500 for a full egress window in the basement, because we didn't plan to ever have a bedroom down there.

Maybe it will turn out to be character-building for the kids :)

Oh, and we also put our fireplace on the wrong wall of our family room - wish we could change that, too!

And finally, I didn't care for the paint and tile at your new house when I first looked, but I think it was because I saw the picture at the old house first. After stepping back a bit, and scrolling down so the first picture didn't show, I like it, too. I think the others are right that it is a different, but equally nice, look.

One more for "It looks GREAT!" Give yourself some time to adjust. After every (and I do mean EVERY) major milestone like paint, flooring, etc. I had the same sinking feeling...like "what the heck have I done??" I think you get so used to seeing the house a certain way that when it changes, it takes a while to re-adjust to the new look (even if it's exactly what you envisioned). I remember my wood floor in the DR and entry. I LOVED it, until it was installed. It just didn't look right until they finally put down the rest of the trim. Now it looks fantastic and it's something everyone comments on. Same thing with paint. Remember that some things may not look exactly right until it's completely finished. Trim and furnishings completely change the look of flooring and paint. So relax and enjoy! It's beautiful!

Freezetag: Thanks for sharing. When I am overwhelmed I forget we all have things we would have liked to have built different.

On a side note Dh was the one who grabbed the tile from our new house and brought it here. He really couldn't understand what I was talking about because the tile looks so different in our current house (not to mention the argumentative state we were in). Fast forward to last night when he was looking at the pictures that I took to post here, he kept glancing at the tile in our house, grabbed the paint sample and shook his head. He finally saw it.

It's absolutely amazing what different lighting can do to colors isn't it?

You won't know for sure until they install the tile, but if you hate it then, try changing out the light bulbs before you do anything else -- incandescent, halogen, flourescent -- all will do very different things to your colors, and odds are, one of them will make it look right!

But for what it's worth - on my monitor, it looks Great!
