SO SORRY I haven't been back here since my original posting folks, but my bathroom demo got started earlier than I expected, we're in the thick of it now and I'm a bit frazzled. Thanks to all who replied. Here's what happened. We decided to go with the Aquia III for the height, but ended up with the Aquia II. I had ordered the A3 last week, but only 24 hours later was informed it was back-ordered and wouldn't be available for anywhere from 8 to 12 weeks. After searching for an A3 elsewhere and talking to a Toto rep, I found that was true; nobody's got 'em unless they squirreled a couple away. The rep said the company seriously underestimated the popularity of the the A3. So that's how I ended up the A2. Now, I think I'm sorry. My plumber  even though I gave him info I downloaded on the A3  is now saying he didn't sign up to install such a difficult toilet and simply can't do it for the price we negotiated. (As part of the work he's doing in the bathroom, he removed a very small upright radiator and ran new piping up the wall for our hydronic towel bars, which he will come back and install, along with the other plumbing fixtures, once the tiling is done.) He didn't realize he would have to drill through my new tile floor to install the Toto...until I mentioned it to him this afternoon. I guess he didn't read the Toto install info I gave him. I've certainly run into this problem with other plumbers in the past, when they've been faced with, say, a Porcher toilet, or even Grohe fixtures. I can't tell you the ruckus that Porcher caused with my then plumber. He put it in, but complained about it vociferously every inch of the way. I work out of my house, so I hear a lot about whatever looks hinky to any of my guys. A tap on my office door these days just sends a shiver down my spine. Have any of you run into a problem like this with your plumber? I'm tired of being castigated for my plumbing fixtures. If a plumber only wants to work on American Standard and Delta I sure do wish they would say so up front. Today's work culminated in a waterfall leak through the kitchen ceiling from the demo'd bathroom above (not the plumber's fault) and a heated argument between my tile guy and the plumber. They both went away mad. And these guys are friends! Finally, I do have a question for any of you who are familiar with Caroma toilets: Is the Caroma install as difficult as the Aquia II seems to be? Caroma was our second choice when we considered toilets  the Adelaide Cube 270 was the one we liked. At this point, if the Caroma Adelaide install doesn't involve drilling into what will be my new travertine floor, I would return the Aquia and buy the Adelaide. Please advise. Now I think I'd like a hot shower. Oh. I forgot. I don't have one.

We spend a lot of time in Japan (relatives), where we have used Washlets and Inax advanced toilet seats many, many times; and the humidity (and summer heat) in much of Japan is at least as great as it is in the American South. Toto and Inax have been selling advanced toilet seats there for more than three decades, and I have never seen or heard of any problem that stainless steel wands or sanitized wands could solve. In modern models of advanced toilet seats, each wand is automatically flushed with water before and after each and every use . . . and the amount of splash-back during use is minuscule: the wands are located several inches below and away from the surface toward which the spray is directed. Two more important features than the ones that you mention are: (1) one-wand vs. two-wand designs; the two-wand (separate wands for posterior and feminine) is more efficient at cleaning (because of optimized angle of spray for each function); and -- relating to your earlier concern -- the posterior wand is not exposed to any splash-back when the feminine function is activated, and vice versa. (2) Possible maintenance. Toto and Lixil (parent of Inax) are GIANT international corporations, with major commitments to the American market (Lixil bought American Standard last year); and each subcontracts with American suppliers for subcomponents. With large warehouses and American suppliers, you are not likely to have parts unavailability problems with either Toto or Inax. Moreover, I suspect that a sanitizing mechanism will require a reservoir of a sanitizing fluid, and where do you go to purchase a refill? "Inax is known for longevity but is more expensive..." The site you are using for comparisons lists only the luxury L series (Luscence) model Inax toilet seats; the Inax C series (Clessence) seats (which have an integrated "armrest" control rather thn a "remote" control) are several hundred dollars less expensive, and (other than the "remote" control) are functionally the same as the L series. And -- honestly now -- how far are you planning to stray from the toilet seat: do you really need a remote control that allows you to operate a toilet seat in the bathroom from the comfort of your living room? I've got a Kohler Persuade installed in my ensuite. Had it in there for 6 months now. No problems at all and is great to clean because of the skirted design. Most of the time a small flush is all that is needed. I'm a big guy and haven't had a clog yet. The Terry Love forum is great but they seem to be quite biased towards the Toto brand. I've got an Aquia II waiting to be installed in my main bathroom when I finish the reno's in there. I'm sure it will be a fine toilet.

The Inax "Rio Grande" is a dual flush, but I am not familiar with the styling of the Cedar; is it similar to the Rio Grande?
