I'm 41 too. My skin is misbehaving as well. I saw some great reviews about this book, The Skin Type Solution, on a makeup board I frequent so I had to get it. It is well worth the purchase price! Based on a questionaire that you fill out, I found out I have Oily, Sensitive, Non-Pigmented, Tight skin. I am following her recommendations for my skin and so far, so good. I found out that my skin type does not take to facials or exfoliation well, too inflamatory. A washcloth is all I should use to exfoliate and anything with scrubbing particles should be avoided. I found a line of skin care (Eucerin Redness Relief) at Walgreens that is doing good things for my early rosacea symptoms. You can easily set up a regimen just for your skin spending as little or as much money as you wish with her product suggestions. And you can avoid spending money on stuff that can harm your skin. Yes. It happened to me. I never had acne as a teen but got it when I was in my late forties and going through menopause. I took a friends advice and started using ProActive and it cleared things up for me. But, I am sure you could used any good brand acne treatment. I have heard that Murad has a good acne control product set also. Check the internet an ask around. I happen to be one of those indiviuals who got acne when I tried using the birth control pills in my late twenties. Amazingly they market BC pills as a CURE for acne and some women have said that BC pills worked for them to control acne as teens. It all depends on your particular body chemistry and what works for you. I have noticed that ProActive has recently started using commercials featuring older women who experienced adult onset acne. I still don't know what to do about all the facial hair I have developed. Right now I bought an electric razor and run it all over my face to get rid of the 'fuzz' and then pluck the course chin hairs and straglers.

I have many allergies to cleaners. I went to a home party and was shown the Norwex products. For someone accustomed to cleaning with vinigar, this was a very welcome change! Since I know the representative personally, she privately gave me one of her cloths (not a party thing, or a company thing, just a friend giving a friend a gift). The next day I went about cleaning with my cloth and water only! I have to say, I was totally amazed at the things this cloth picked up!! Dirty kitchen greasy dust....wiped off with a cloth and water!!! Bathroom mirrors and kitchen windows...then I dusted everything!!! I also have dust allergies, but the cloth grabbed everything and I didn't get stuffed up or get a headache! I have to admit, I'm sold!!!! People say how the cloth will smell if it's not washed. Well, the microfibres are 1/100 of a human hair. It picks up 99% of all bacteria, of course it will smell if it's not washed. The silver in the cloth will not directly kill the bacteria. How it works is by making an environment that's impossible for bacteria to live. The existing bacteria in the cloth will die in a 24 hour period. So wash the cloth when you're done, and by the next day they'll be no bacteria in the cloth. You can boil it if you want to use it sooner. But a regular wash does not completely kill bacteria in any cloth. Anyway, despite any controversy, I tried it for myself and found it worked. So I don't need people selling me on it or trying to convince me otherwise. I am relieved to find a non-chemical way to clean that won't leave my house smelling like vinigar!!! :)
