I'm not familiar with the product, but if it's an at-home party chances are is a multi-level marketing operation, and the markup on those products is usually large because so many people take their cut.

If it were me, I'd stay home. But I realize not everyone feels this way.

Sounds expensive. Unfortunately, the products that are supposed to be good for the environment are usually NOT as good as the "normal" stuff and COSTS a LOT more. No easy answer.....

Might it be Melaleuca? If so, it is a pyramid selling plan. My neighbor agreed to be a seller, and had an initial outlay, and then 'had' to have at least a $50 order each month. She ended up buying that $50 herself each month before getting out of it. I'm not sure but maybe she was contracted to sell for a minimum of a year or something. She gave me some things to 'try' but they were not worth the price they charged for them.

She also thought she was going to work from home selling Prepaid Legal, but that didn't work out either.

I hate going to those type of parties and always try to find an excuse why I can't make it.
If I can't get out of going I go in planning to just listen to the speal or spend as little as possible. The last one I got talked in to attending was a PartyLite party and I spent considerable time looking for the lowest priced item in the catalogue - ended up spending $16 on a small, square votive holder that I could have gotten (or one very, very similar) at any dollar store for a couple of bucks.
One of the girls at work had a jewelry party and I managed to avoid that one. I like jewelry as well as the next person, but hate feeling obligated to buy something.

If it was me, I'd probably beg off with a sinus headache, and just be prepared to stay home and pamper myself by napping or reading and relaxing....maybe browse the catalog afterwards and not find anything I 'needed'.

I too hate to be talked into attending parties where I do not want to be obligated to spend big bucks for an item that can be found elsewhere for 1/2 or 1/3 the price.

The last 'party' like that I attended was probably Tupperware maybe 25-30 years ago, and I did buy a couple things that have lasted well and that I still use.

No, I haven't either. But I have also turned ultra cheap. I use baking soda and vinegar for most cleaning, ultra cheap if you buy at SAMS.

Avoid MLM parties. Anything they sell you can buy elsewhere for lots less money.

If you do go, go armed with knowledge.

You can buy bundles of microfiber cloths at places like Target for about $7. They work great.

Nano-Silver technology is not new. Silver has been used as an anti-microbial for decades. Don't let them fool you into thinking they have some new "European technology" just being released in America. You can buy kitchen cleaning products and things like cutting boards, with Nano-Silver almost anywhere.

You best bet for cleaning products with a low impact on the environment and health is the old stand-bys like vinegar, baking soda, lemon oil, and/or real soap.

Don't sign up for any MLM selling. You will lose money.

My advice is: Don't go.

I don't "do" home parties and I come right out and tell them if I'm asked to one.

Some neighbors we had been friends with called one day and invited us over for coffee. We walked across the street and it was an AMWAY party. And we were the only people there. I was PISSED. DH got sucked into that back in the 70's, and he was a lot more gracious to them then I was about it...

Why do people need excuses to say NO to a scam? Why do people thank and apologize to telemarketers when they interrupt them? This always amazes me.

Bur for this deal, I'd ask for info FIRST. It could be decent stuff. Or it could be just another MLM scheme. If they don't provide information on it, you know it's a scam. The two, shall we say well-known names, let's just say "A" and "S" do sell some decent things. However it's very expensive and you can get as good elsewhere for far less. I don't like their marketing approaches but give the devils their due, they work.

The company is Norwex -I wasn't sure if I could put this or not but I guess I did! I want to know about the actual products. I know they sell the ball that goes in the washer or dryer that replaces dry sheets and softener. The company claims that dryer sheets and softeners are poison.

What I hate is when companies make claims that everything I'm using from toothpaste to fabric softener is poison and I'm going to die some horrible death very soon. I went to a different party about 5 years ago where they told me that the suds soap makes is poison and they banned the ingrediant in Europe. They also said that the soap in Europe does not suds up. When I got home, I checked online and it wasn't true.

So, has anyone heard of Norwex? I hate getting blindsided.

The contactphone number to call is not a toll free number so it is starting to cost to return, you have to pay the shipping back and it is not reimbursed. I'm waiting to see how long it takes for customer services to answer my email inquiry. There are no product reviews on the reviews pages. This is a sign of not a well received product. When people like the products they add reviews When they hate the product they leave bad reviews. I find when product review pages are empty the product is not as good as touted, but not bad enough to complain.

You might want to inform your friend these parties are not really going to get a good profit if any after expenses of drinks and snacks for guests also the gifts and discounts she is supposed to receive are dependent on the sales made during her party and then anyone else signing up to have a party. To me that is secondary to the friends she will lose after inviting them to "parties" trying to sell something.
I don't understand calling this kind of gathering a PARTY it is more like a personal infomercial. Where you try to guilt/obligate friends into buying something.

I had assumed you did not know the name of the company otherwise you could Google it.

There are review sites out there for their products. None of their products are bad - just overpriced. Their dryer ball is $20. You can buy a similar shaped doggy toy to use for a lot less. As I said before, microfiber cloths are GREAT but they are charging $20 for three clothes when you can buy fifty for $20 at a store.

I do not understand why you feel you must go to this sales seminar. Real friends would not do this to you. Just say "No". If not buying stuff from her "ruins" the "friendship" then the friendship was not there to begin with.

If you do not have the ability to say "No" to this invitation, (and I completely understand, as I myself have been in that same situation and made a poor decision I regret when I was younger), then there is a chance you will not be able to say "No" when you get to the party and will overspend to keep her happy, and possibly wind up signing up as one of their new sales consultants just to soothe her feelings. Don't do it.

I find if funny how everyone dissed the Norwex products, yet sounds like no one has tried them. I hesitantly did and was pleasantly suprised. No, I don't sell Norwex. I tried the face cleaning cloths and have not had acne problems since. I have also been using the enviro cloths and no one in my house has been sick since. I also don't have to have those toxic chemicals around my home anymore. I don't know what Target you all shop at, but there is nothing comparable to these cloths at my Target. You get what you pay for. I hope you went to the party.

I couldn't agree with Dawn more. I came to this site to find some honest feedback from people who have actually used Norwex and it does sound like no one here has used any of their products, but has nothing but negative responses.

I do not sell Norwex either but recently went to a home party. I try to avoid home parties as well for products that I am not interested in but will attend the ones that I like. I had heard from at least 5 different friends, who have been using Norwex for years how GREAT the products are. I went to the party, was impressed by what I saw and am excited about the starter pack I ordered. I just went the other day so I haven't received it yet so I can't give any feedback yet but I am anticipating that it will work fantastically based on the demonstration and what 5 of my friends (who have no reason to lie since they do not sell Norwex either) have said. I obviously want to try the product for myself first before ordering any more.

I do work hard for my money and want to spend it wisely and get good value for it obviously, I believe that "A fool and his/her money are soon parted" but also "You get what you pay for." The products may be a little more spendy buying from a home party that a big retail store like Walmart or Target but I look at it like this...anything you buy, someone is making a profit, that is just how business works. Do I want to support a big mega chain making billions and billions of dollars or someone out there, doing home parties working hard trying to supplement their more than likely average income?

Norwex is an OK product. The hype about the cleaning power is just that... Hype. However the quality of the cloths and dryer ball seem above average. As and engineer I would purchase the cheaper microfibers at Target because they are the same density for a smaller price. And when you don't use soaps you will want to discard old cloths frequently. Also note that note using soaps guarantees a residue of oil/grease and bacteria. Don't be worried about the bacteria residue if you consistently use clean cloths. However the only way to really clean oil is using a detergent of some sort. Beware of Norwex's misleading claim of use in a hospital. The fact is it was used in a cafeteria.

In the end you are just paying 3x the price for a product that is about 1.5x better than standard. If you buy do it for the love of your friend. or don't.

I have been using the cleaning cloths for a month and I am very impressed. Not only do they clean well with just water but the surfaces I have cleaned (countertops, sinks, range hood, stainless steel frig) are not attracting dirt/dust the way they used to. I am having a party this week(I don't sell the product) so I can buy additional products. Anything that works this well and eliminates the use of chemical cleaning products is worth purchasing!!

I've used the cleaning cloths for 3 months to clean all surfaces in my home and the difference in the overall appearance and cleanliness of the home is amazing. I have many allergies to cleaners. I went to a home party and was shown the Norwex products. For someone accustomed to cleaning with vinigar, this was a very welcome change! Since I know the representative personally, she privately gave me one of her cloths (not a party thing, or a company thing, just a friend giving a friend a gift).
The next day I went about cleaning with my cloth and water only! I have to say, I was totally amazed at the things this cloth picked up!! People say how the cloth will smell if it's not washed. Well, the microfibres are 1/100 of a human hair. It picks up 99% of all bacteria, of course it will smell if it's not washed. The silver in the cloth will not directly kill the bacteria. How it works is by making an environment that's impossible for bacteria to live. The existing bacteria in the cloth will die in a 24 hour period. So wash the cloth when you're done, and by the next day they'll be no bacteria in the cloth. You can boil it if you want to use it sooner. But a regular wash does not completely kill bacteria in any cloth.
Anyway, despite any controversy, I tried it for myself and found it worked. So I don't need people selling me on it or trying to convince me otherwise. I am relieved to find a non-chemical way to clean that won't leave my house smelling like vinigar!!! :)
