New Bluestar elec wall oven vs New Viking french door wall oven
Comments (122)yes have electric 3 yrs old & propane fueled 7 yrs old in different homes. no issues w doors (except to adapt to left closing). both perform well. electric more bells whistles being newer.. digital and pizza stone. however on advice on tech (we had 1 svc call for faulty thermostat ez repair but they pulled entire panel and replaced), pizza stone carefully removed, stored. this way oven heats and cools faster. note that neither throws excessive heat into space. trade off is a fan running to aid slow deliberate cool down. this might annoy in an open space eat in kitchen. our fan friendly oven is installed in walk in pantry utility room that houses freezer and extra refrig (main kitchen has 30" Leibherr)...See MoreCooktop & double wall oven vs stove & single wall oven
Comments (7)In terms of function, other than the bending (potentially also there with a double wall oven), and the size (depending on which range and/or wall ovens you choose), the real issue is that ovens are generally afterthoughts on ranges. People talk about the cooktop: Number, power and arrangement of burners, grating type, open or closed, etc. The oven is the oven you get with the cooktop you want. There's actually more variation in ovens than there are in cooktops within a particular category. If you find a range that has an oven you like, fabulous! If you don't, however, you can either buy separate cooktop and oven, and put the oven underneath in the European style, or have a separate cooktop and wall oven(s). In general, a free standing range gives you the most function for the least price. If your budget is tight, it's a place you can save. You not only save on the price of the freestanding range vs. separates, but also on the cabinetry/countertop (that's not so true with a slide-in or drop-in). Ranges also come in nominal sizes, so if you don't make the space too specific you can swap one out fairly easily. Or you can spend the extra dollars and have a close fit with a counter that comes right up to the sides and not worry about the future. Both wall ovens and cooktops require such different openings that replacements without some carpentry and patching can be challenging....See MoreWall oven/speed oven combo: bosch 800 vs. GE Monogram vs. Wolf/Miele?
Comments (19)@Amy Cantu We've been in our house for 6 mo now and I really like the GE Monogram oven. I haven't actually used the speed oven functionality of the speed oven. Just the microwave. And even then, we just use the add 30 sec option. I need to sit down with the manual and experiment with it. Unfortunately, using the speed oven is not as simple as just turning it on. It's pretty complex. I remember when I tried the speed oven at my friend's house it was really hard, and I thought I'd need to dedicate some serious experimentation to getting it to work for me, and doubted that I would ever bother using it as an oven except for Thanksgiving, which hasn't happened yet. My motivation to learn how to use it has been even less than I expected, so I'm sorry to say I can't report back. I also haven't tried using the oven probe functionality for the oven (haven't cooked a roast yet). Need to find the oven probe along with the speed oven manual! But I have done a ton of baking and roasting of vegetables and have been pleased. We were living in a rental house with a viking range and the GE monogram oven is 1000x better than whatever model of viking oven came with the range in the rental. Much more even. I've done two cakes side by side and they came out beautifully without the need to rotate. With a sheet of cookies I notice that sometimes a corner might brown a little quicker than another corner, but not so much that I really need to worry about rotating the pan halfway through. Broiler also works great--I've been making a lot of toast to go with steak tartare and an entire pan filled with toast toast 100% evenly under the broiler--hooray!...See MoreKitchen remodel: range vs wall ovens, walk-in vs wall pantry?
Comments (22)You’ll be surprised at how much larger the range ovens can be than wall ovens. This is due to a lot of details but mainly because its easier to fit the electronics, thermal buffering, etc into a range so the oven cavity is bigger.... Although I’m partial to wall ovens (being one of those freaks that likes to hide every possible appliance due to the common open-concept living)......I can’t deny how nice it would be to have the ovens that are available in a range. I always say: the kitchen you’ll LOVE MOST is a kitchen thats functional for how YOU live. You can have the most magazine ready kitchen & still hate it if it doesn’t work for your lifestyle so forget all the fads & “rules” (as long as its not a structural or code rule hah)....If ur family tends to reach for snacks, drinks, etc while ur cooking then I say make it a priority to place your work triangle outside that zone! Wall pantries can absolutely hold just as much *if not more* than many of the small corner pantries that often have awkward corner shelves which are wasted storage space. straight boxes with pull outs don’t suffer wasted space which makes it possible to hold more items ☺️. I can see why you’d want to double up the next wall pantry area...Have u considered placing the cooktop in the corner & the wall ovens in the cabinet area beside the new closed in opening (in place of the upper/lowers)?...See MoreMCMesprit
