Thanks suzan30! We fell in love with it when we saw it (the other colors are stunning as well!), but were also concerned about such dark tile in a small space (hadn't been considering dark tile at first). It is Glow tile (color is Cosmos) from Atlas Concorde (distributed by AKDO?). Ours are the 12x24's, if you can't tell in the pics, but it does come in other sizes as well.

I don't have a current pic but I have slate tiles in entry going down hall to laundry, guest bath and to garage door. The bath has an insert that looks like white subway but is actually fiberglass or whatever. But it looks like white tile. I have white crown molding in room. It looks very nice and actually I never even considered what the floor would look like with it because the "tile" in shower is white and neutral. I think your floor would look great with white or even an ivory tile. But if your baseboards and trim are white I would stick with white. Then you can use whatever color to accessorize the room or pain the walls.

I can't tell how true the colors in the photos are -- they look pretty dark. I'd look for a medium gray (warm, not cold) or tan tile that matches a tone in the slate -- there are a zillion cement-look tiles that might do the trick, say -- and use that on the floor and around your tub. You haven't said what color your vanity is, so it's hard to suggest a counter, but again, you might look for a stone that coordinates with tones from your slate while giving sufficient contrast with the vanity (that is, a mix of grays and browns with a cream or white vanity, maybe more toward cream with a darker wood vanity)... Should be possible to make it all look intentional. Maybe you can find a small slate accent tile to put at the top of your tiling near the tub to help tie things together (or maybe as a backsplash for the vanity, depending). As a real estate appraiser I would advise to try to keep it. It will reduce the valuation by a few percent. If I were to appraise your home, I would now have to compare and adjust it from a 3 bathroom home to a 2.5. That's anywhere from $2,500 to $5,000 adjustment downwards. Understand that I don't know where you live or your real estate market. Even though there is no bedroom on the floor, it's a very usable space. At the very least, I'd put in a shower. You just never know when someone will lose their mobility. It looks like an older home. If your laundry room is in the basement, you may want to reconfigure it to bring the laundry up to the main living area. That would be an improvement in utility and the only reason why I would consider eliminating it. Hard to see everything, but you could reconfigure the doorway/entry and take over that vestibule area.
