What has happened to sizing in womens clothes?

Recently I bought a pair of Levi's in my regular size. I got

them home and they were not the size of my old ones.

I bought a satin robe, I brought it home and it was sized wrong. What I am seeing over and over lately is no care at all taken to size anything properly any more. When it comes to bras this is truly a disaster. Has anyone else noticed

this? I suppose the store gets your money anyway for a certain time until you return it. Maybe that is all they want. Of course buying online becomes truly difficult too.

Oh, anymore NOTHING is sized the same. At the Gap I am a medium, at other stores I can be up to an extra large. My work uniform shirt is a small. Who knows?

I hate it too, you really have to try on clothes every time to get the right fit. I feel your pain.

Twenty-four years ago (at age 30) I weighed 100 lbs., and wore a size 5. I am now 54, still weigh 100 lbs., but -- get this -- I now wear a size 00 or sometimes even a size 16 in the little girls section.
Perhaps my making this clothing size-down, women are more prone to buying the smaller sizes? Makes no difference to me, as I usually wear my youngest daughters "old" clothes.

they are plants, at least that is how the website describes them. They have been in the ground since the first week of April. What I was trying to say is it was not long after that that I started to notice these white marks on the walla walla's.. They did seem to start a bulb but then the green top started looking like the pictures and the bulbs quit growing.. It has been very hot and humid here, very unusual for this early in the summer.. We also had 4 inches of rain in 2 weeks...

Don't drink much coffee so I can't comment on that, but I was thinking the same thing about eggs just the other day. I have always bought "large" eggs and I have one of those refrigerators with little egg cups on the side door so I always take my eggs out of the carton and put them in the cups to save inside space. This is just my anecdotal experience, but I was thinking, "These 'large" eggs don't look 'large' to me. I have two possible thoughts but I could be way off base. Food prices are going up, for a whole lot of reasons, and rather than raise prices, a whole lot of food sellers are subtley resizing/downsizing their packaging. Not enough to make it dramatic so you can easily tell. Not sure that this could "officially" happen in the egg industry, but I know standards enforcement isn't all that strict. Maybe some reporter needs to investigate, lol! However, since BF's son is trying to crack the journalism field, I know that actual news reporting is a fast dying profession--too expensive to pay all those intrepid scandal investigators! But I could also be totally wrong about the eggs too!! Also, maybe at one time they were hand graded and now are machine graded and people were more generous in their sorting. Or the standards have gradually changed in favor of smaller eggs being graded as "large." I'm not up on egg sizing politics, lol! I miss the days when I had a line on farm fresh eggs. All kinds of sizes with those! Nowdays I am just on the road too much commuting for my new job to seek out the most quality ingredients. And even if I find them, I can rarely afford them.

I use a cheap Mr Coffee espresso machine that I received as a wedding gift twenty years ago this month. It has never done a great job steaming the milk, and unless the coffee is fine enough, the coffee ends up too weak. I tried switching to a Krups pump-type espresso machine, which steamed the milk a little better, but the coffee wasn't any better and it had a plastic-y flavor. Plus the machine was noisy, and hard to clean. When it finally blew a gasket, literally, I went back to using the old Mr Coffee machine, and have found that if I use Cafe Pilon pre-ground espresso the results are much better than if I buy whole beans and use my burr grinder. I have one two-espresso-shot latte every morning, occasionally I'll have another after lunch. The only thing I know about percolators is that at the home-based coffee shop near my father-in-law's place in Maine, there's a sign that says "No percolators" and if you ask the shop owner about the sign he will explain (at length) about how a percolator does everything wrong if what you want is good coffee.

What has happened to these mint cuttings?

Hang in there! I started some chocolate mint today and transplanted some rooted cuttings. It can be really maddening when you can't seem to get a weed to root! lol I am almost finished with a DIY for our blog on rooting mint. Send me a private email and I will send you the link when it is done. Meanwhile, impose on family, friends and friendly gardeners to give you pieces of their mints to try. After they laugh, because everyone knows it is simple (not for everyone!) take them home and try with a different type! Put the jars on a bright windowsill. Pretty soon you will have enough rooted to give to friends and all visitors. lol Another place for extras is a food bank. Pot them up in a little soil and they will be loved and cherished by all who take them home.

Every company has it's own measurements for size, and they do not even seem to be consistent within a brand. You have to try on.

Its not just that. It would be expected that different companies have different sizing. I tried on a bra at VS. It fit like a dream. I bought six. I got them home and when I tried on one in a different color it did not fit. I laid them all out and they were ALL different lengths. From the biggest one to the shortest one was a 6" difference with various lengths in between. I took them ALL back and showed them. I just got a shrug from the clerk.

This sort of thing happens often. I tried on a skirt and decided to get both colors. Sure enough the EXACT SAME skirt in a different color was huge.

Try on everything.

It's because we get all our clothing manufactured outside the USA. Some worker 14 hours into a 16 hour day for 45 cents is not going to worry if they made that bra to size, they are just trying to keep body and soul together.

My body happened to clothing sizes as far as I can see. :-(
I used to wear 8's, then 10's, then 12's and now I wear a 16. At seventy I still care that I have gained inches where they never used to be and lumps and bumps that would have horrified me at 30. But you guys are right; nothing is consistent any more size wise. I looked at some summer knit shirts the other day at Costco marked XL. What a joke. Even in my most skinny days I could not have worn those shirts.

I think you 'pay' for the smaller size tags! The cheaper the clothes the closer to my real size it seems but I see some celebrities who weigh much more than I have ever weighed & they supposedly wear a size 8 & weigh 158 lbs? Come on now!!
