You can also do it the really old fashioned way -- the same method that has long been used to make sorbet. Just pour the mixture into a baking dish, and set that into your freezer. Also, you will need a heavy glass or metal bowl, an electric hand mixer, and a bowl of ice big enough for the first bowl to sit in. Put the heavy glass or metal bowl and the beater attachments for the hand mixer into the freezer at the same time as the ice cream mix to chill them. When its almost but not quite fully frozen, use a fork to break it up into small lumps about the size of a nickle or a little less. Then put it back into the freezer about 10 minutes to set up a bit again. Now, working as quickly as possible, take the pre-chilled heavy bowl out of the freezer, and set it in a bath of ice cubes in the 2nd larger bowl. Quickly transfer the ice cream mixture into the chilled bowl, and beat it as much as possible with the electric mixer ONLY until the lumps are broken up, and it begins to whip up a bit. Then, back into the freezer for another 15 to 30 minutes, until its not at all "melty" but still a little soft. Repeat the beating/whipping process several times -- the idea is to whip as much air into it to make it creamy and fluffy as possible, without melting it too much at each whipping. The chilled bowl, the ice bath, and the chilled beaters help, but beware that the very act of beating it creates friction between the bowl and beaters, which makes heat, so this process is a balancing act between beating in air and melting the ice cream. Done right, which isn't at all hard to do with just a little practice, this method does work, albeit it will never be quite as fluffy as commercial ice creams you are used to, which not only incorporate a large volume of air into the mix using specialized equipment, but which also generally use gums and stabilizers which prevents the product from melting and turning liquid as fast as a pure, cream and milk only product will. Good luck.

It sounds as if you need an ice crusher with almost commercial strength;suggest you look at this model: Here is a link that might be useful: Waring IC70 Pro Professional Ice Crusher

If you have the means to build a frame, and have a truck junk yard in the neighborhood, pick up a type 30 air brake chamber, and power it with tap water. The type 30 means that the diaphragm has 30 square inches of area, and with 30 PSI at the faucet, you'll generate 900 pounds of crush. You can make a neato electric control valve by stripping the water solenoids out of an automatic washing machine. You will need two snap switches (like for a wall box to turn on your dining room light) Put one solenoid valve in the supply line to fill the brake chamber, and tee the other one to drain water out of the chamber. If you're crazy enough to tackle this thing, I'm enough of an enabler to give you a specific plumbing and electrical schematic diagram. Just email me with the request.

Checking in! I'm also in central OK and we have two acres of humongous Oak tree's and it's going to cost a pretty fortune to get the place cleaned up. We stand on the porch and listen to the trees in the creek (and ours) and they sound like machine guns going off when limbs break. Had two beautiful Crepe Myrtle next to the house which were seen from the road,...gone. They should grow back. Too dangerous to go in the backyard, ice is hitting our roof bigtime. Hoping a branch doesn't break. Power, now we were blessed, but I think it has to do with a gas plant up the road even though they probably have backup power. About 75% of customers in my zip code are without power, but we have it. Which means DS has it. The reason I think it has something to do with the plant is because it's gone off several times and an hour later it's back on like clockwork, if I'm not back I just jinxed myself. I figured out how to describe getting power back when you lose hope...which was us the first time. It's like walking into a room and hundreds of people are there for a surprise bday party all screaming Happy Birthday!!! lol
