You guys are the best! Thanks for all your candid opinions and thoughtful insight. Whenever I have a dilemma pertaining to our house I always know where to turn for the best advice. While I personally find the mirror charming after seeing it on my computer screen aside the Cartwright vanity I have to agree that it would compliment a vanity with more curves (which is what I wish I had) and we definitely could utilize the storage that a medicine cabinet would provide.

Thanks everyone for all your responses and ideas !! Squirrelheaven-I agree that a beautiful antique mirror would look really nice in that space. I've actually been searching for one but just haven't found any with the right dimensions. The other consideration with a nontraditionally shaped mirror is where to put the lighting since there isn't enough space to the right of the sink adjacent to the wall. My original plan was to have a reclaimed antique dresser converted into a vanity but due to time constraints (we are finishing a complete gut job of our house) I had to settle for the RH vanity since it fit the space and had the white base and marble top which matches the shower we have installed. -OH well, maybe if we live in the house long enough I will still pursue that dream. Natal- I am certain about the sconces since the sink on the right is located so close to the adjacent wall. My alternative option was to have a double sconce (either the Haines or Chatham placed above each recessed medicine cabinet). Wooderlander- As I mentioned to squirrelheaven The RH vanity was a consolation to my dream of having a reclaimed antique dresser converted into a vanity although I feel privilaged a lucky to have found it. Redbazel-Since there isn't enough room for a sconce to the far right of the sink due to it running into the adjacent wall I was thinking instead of place two double sconce (maybe the Haines or Chatham style) above each of the recessed medicine cabinets.

Can you mock up what the mirror and vanity will look like - use some painters tape to indicate where in the room the vanity will end and then outline the various choices of mirror/mirror cabinets. You might be surprised at how some work better than others. With the Kohler Verdera 101cm (40") by 76cm (30") medicine cabinet, it doesn't matter if it's 7" shorter than the sink - what matters is if you are using the sink to wash up, and you look up - are you able to see yourself properly in the mirror? IOW, is it functional.

This is an opinion question without a correct answer, but my thoughts are as follows: - I like a large-scale simple mirror. Yeah, I know, small fancy mirrors are in style, but a big mirror is a simple, clean look -- and it makes the bathroom larger. - On the other hand, medicine cabinets provide only small mirrors. They give you only a broken view of yourself. - When you open the door to retrieve your stored items, you "lose" the mirror! That might be fine if you're storing medicine (because you don't need or want to look at yourself when you're taking an asprin), but you do need to see yourself when you're fixing your hair. - Admittedly, if you go with a plain mirror mounted on the wall, you must allot yourself storage elsewhere, but you have multiple options to make this happen.
