I have had a couple Weber gas grills and allways had to resort to my antique Weber charcoal grill for good steaks. I now have an Aussie Bonza and haven't had to use the charcoal grill since I bought it. I don't think you can get the heat out of an inexpensive gas grill to do good steaks. Dick

Take a look at the Members Mark $599 model as well if you have a Sam's in your area (same manufacturer as the Kenmore). Since you indicated you would spend up to $1000 I would strongly recommend the Virco for $799 that you see in other discussion here. 32" grilling surface with 3 heat zones and a 4th side burner and 5th ceramic burner for rotiserrie. Comes with heating rack, and nice cover as well. All stainless thick stainless steel welded construction and pullout grease tray (easy to clean, but all SS if you want to do it later ;-) This is not rocket science and since the parts are fairly simple/straightforward components, name brand is not nearly as important as seeing how well it is constructed. If you don't have a Sams or Costco, then take a look at the JennAire at Lowes. A cut above the Weber grills that I could look at first hand. Stainless steel in alot of places there it needs to be there.

I own both anodized and stainless (high end) cookware. I prefer to use the anodized because, well, it performs better. Why is that? Aluminum simply conducts heat better than stainless steel. Manufacturers of SS cookware will either sandwich a thin sheet of aluminum between two sheets of SS ("clad" or "Tri-ply"), or bond a thicker sheet of aluminum to the bottom of the cookware, in order to get the benefits of aluminum with the aesthetics of SS. These processes vastly improve the performance of the SS cookware, but solid aluminum will always provide superior heating properties. And, that's why anodized is becoming the "rage". Purists and those that know and understand these properties prefer the performance of anodized. But most of today's stainless steel cookware can boast very good performance characteristics, and for those who prefer the aesthetics of SS, are a good choice. If you love the look and feel of stainless, go for it. Both sets you're looking at should perform well. But it will be in YOUR kitchen, YOU will have to look at it, YOU will have to use it every day. Easy, huh?

A sink was a hard decision for us. I think so many people here buy really expensive sinks. I found a bunch of ss sinks on ebay and was concerned because I could save so much. I was concerned because I couldn't find what the catch was. looked at lowes and HD and could look at the cheap ss sinks and tell that they were cheap. I asked our granite guy about them and he said that is what he has in his own house and he can't hardly tell the difference when set side by side, so I took the leap and bought a sink off of ebay from sink direct. I have to say...It looks great, I don't think it looks anything like the cheap things at Lowes and HD. They had so many different shapes and sizes to choose from. Mine is a 1 deeper larger bowl and 1 shallower smaller for $120 shipping included, I just need to buy a second strainer because it only came with one.
