Wash it a few times in a row, it will lighten considerably. Then evaluate how dark you want to go, possibly get blonde highlights. It's hard to transition but a darker blonde does make you seem less washed out, imo.... That's the way I went and I'm loving it. I do have lots of highlights though.

rthummer posted: lindsey ca--- blah, blah, blah, sit down and shut up until you know what you are talking about. I do not know what your profession is, nor do I pretend to know, so quit pretending like you know about mine. I have been an educator, a salon owner and have worked in a salon for some 30+ years. You do not know what you are talking about and I am not going to let you rattle on about something you know nothing about. I will not go into the details of taxes, insurance for employees, health insurace, retirement, liability insurance, education, rent, renter's insurance, etc. etc." Talk about the ultimate in rude behavior. I have only lurked occasionally on this forum and just aghast at how this thread went on and on. The escalation of rude remarks is just disgusting to me. If rthummer were a friend or family member, I would be horrified to be associated. Scarlett2001, If I was not happy with my hair and had it corrected, I definitely would not tip. Yes, items purchased in connection with a business venture are tax deductible, so rthummer's post again makes no sense. No, your stylist shouldn't be overly compensated for taking much too long to accomplish a task. There is no profession other than working at a convenience store that does not require some level of training. Even the convenience store clerk must learn how to run a cash register these days. The salary disparity makes me crazy as well. Ugh, I wish I never opened this thread as by blood is boiling. One last thing, any salon owner that accepts a tip is tacky, pure and simple. Low class. I am surprised that the powers that be at GW didn't pull this thread when it started getting ugly.

Slicing has been around for a long time. I tell the stylist not to "cut in" with scissors. It just leaves a lot of uneven ends that stick out. I still don't know how to communicate best to get a good cut, but in addition to no cutting in, I say "very limited layering. A couple of long layers that are almost the the same length is ok". And I say I want as geometric a cut as possible - "a structured cut". My hair can provide it's own randomness, thank you very much. Those mess-making techniques are for hair that is fine, or straight. Or for coarse or curly hair in the hands of a real shaping expert, and those experts are very few and far between. They exist, but you have to hunt, and wait a long time for an appointment, and pay big $$$$. I ask for a structured bob, emphasizing that I want to achieve an overall shape and definite line or edge. The behavior of my hair then softens this edge, but it looks cared for and even.

OMG...after staring at that picture of the two of you for what seemed hours...I had to go back and reread what you even posted about...It's amazing how you could have shared the same womb for 9 months and have totally different hair styles, and hair features...I woulda thought your hair would have been exactly alike! I've changed my hair on a whim to many times to count...it's about a 50 50 thing...my haircutter told me if I was gonna color to do it before my surgery as anestheia or however you spell it..messes with the color application...so I hurried and covered my roots two days before the surgery...well geesh it came out this god awful color and so I'm having to live with it for the next few months and just thankful I'm not going anywhere or seeing many peeps....it said medium ash blonde on the bottle and it's this red/henna thing...looks awful...I hate it and will be glad to color over it! I'm trying to find something to color the grey...lighten the dark color a bit and just haven't gotten there yet...I probably should just suck it up and pay the big bucks for a stylist to do it...but my cheap genes wont let me...so I'll just keep experimenting!! Good luck finding the color you love!!
