I have one of these fridges - the E522 series (32" wide) with flat doors and in-door water dispenser (model E522BRXFDU2). We got it because it was the only counter-depth fridge that fits our cutout, and it actually fits the cutout perfectly for us.

We have had it since August and we have been happy with it. We had one issue with the water line, which turned out to actually be due to a slightly improper installation (not Fisher and Paykel's fault), but they came pretty quickly and fixed it without charging (even though they could have). If you live in LA, NYC, Philly, or a few other areas they repair directly which is nice (agents still used in other areas).

The doors will hold something about as deep as a 2-liter bottle. Traditional gallon jugs won't fit, bit the tall square kind may. You can fit probably 5 2-liter bottles or half-gallon milk containers in the tall shelf at the bottom of the door.

The shelves are as deep as you'll find on any counter-depth fridge, so if you can find any CD fridge in a store you can visualize how deep they are. They are not split (so you can't adjust the height of just half a shelf) - they fit in grooves on the sides of the fridge, which has the upside of making more usable space as there is no bracket under the shelf holding it up. The produce bin has a very nice metal slider so it doesn't get stuck like on my old (and not cheap) KitchenAid fridge. There is no snack bin if that's a big deal to you.

The usable space in the fridge is just a bit smaller than you'll find on the average 36" wide counter-depth fridge - it's less wide but it's designed to make good use of the space that's there.

The freezer is not large. However, again it makes very good use of the space that's there, through using three drawers and using an icemaker that doesn't take up any space. (The little ice scoop is a nice touch too.) I saw a measurement that the usable space is about the same as the typical 36" CD, but it's probably still not quite as big. I do LOVE how easy the drawers slide out (on metal rails) versus the drawer in my last freezer which could be difficult. Because all the freezer space is used for the drawers there is no light, FYI.

The water in the door is nice and looks a bit nicer than the average dispenser.

Only slight drawback is that it's not he absolute quietest fridge, although it's probably not louder than average.

If you get this fridge, I *highly* recommend getting the Version 2 model (the model number has a 2 at the end - like E522BRXFDU2). These have brighter LED lights in the refrigerator, a much better icemaker (makes ice twice as fast as before), hidden hinges, and a few other enhancements.

If you have a copper water line you will need to get a fitting to connect a plastic line as the fridge cannot accept copper piping. Really minor though, as it can be picked up at Home Depot for about $3.

your post helped me so much the no gallon in the door is a minus for me, and because I live in the mid west and this brand isnt sold hardley ever here, I think repairs would be a challenge. So I went with the samsung counter depth french door, they are sold like crazy here. I'll just keep my fingers crossed with my extended warranty. But I would have loved the fisher. thank you!

I live in the Midwest too and went to a giant appliance store on Friday. I too was looking at counter depth refrigerators and had my heart set on the F&P (the store didn't have them though). They did have a CD Samsung, and the salesman said it is the largest cubic foot CD fridge on the market (about 20.3 I think). I was discouraged though because I couldn't imagine how a pizza box would fit in a CD fridge. Just saying. I like pizza.
