Please help value antique furniture donated to animal rescue sale

IÂm trying to get some rough values on two antique items that were donated for our barn sale to benefit animal rescue. Plus some advice how to achieve the highest sale prices.

The first item is a French Louis XIV (?) walnut marble top chest of drawers with mirror. This dresser definitely needs work, but it appears to be a genuine French antique. Apparently never refinished. Has stickers from when it was imported from France but no other noticeable markings. The donor purchased it in much better condition about 20 years ago in Ventura, California for $600. She asked an antique restorer to repair it but he moved away taking some of the pieces of the mirror frame with him and she is now trying to get them returned, which is entirely possible. No mirror. Some of the brasses have been replaced with similar but not identical items. The marble top is reddish brown, cracked into three places, all there and repairable. This chest also would need small wood trim pieces and regluing to make it serviceable.

The second item is a bevel-edged wood framed mirror and seems to be quite old. About 17 ½" wide by 53" overall. The wood may be old-time mahogany, very fine grained, and across the back is a thin, covering piece of solid wood that is nearly 15" wide and solid, unlaminated unjointed wood. (One good reason to believe itÂs quite old.) The glass beveling is high quality, and there are only a few flaws in the silvering, just two spots about 1/8" diameter. It has two screw-holes at the frameÂs edge midway down one side where it was attached to something but not strong enough to support its weight of more than 20 pounds. ItÂs in excellent condition.

I'll try to post photos at thaugen.20megsfree.com
