We have the Electrolux ICON set. When we got ours (5 yrs ago), they were much nicer inside than the Frigidaire set... glass shelves vs wire racks and much nicer organized door, and the ICON was Energy Star rated, while the Frigidaire wasn't. I don't know if all that's still true.

The Thermador Columns are a whole different thing, and something I would've loved to have if budget would have allowed. For me, the Thermador dbl oven is too expensive, and not as good as others in its price point. The Thermador dishwasher is a Bosch dishwasher... Maybe with different features or racks? Or maybe not even that. Still, a decent dishwasher. Maybe more of a price than necessary, but if you get a 'deal' that could be negated.

Make sure the 1-2-Free deal is better than the Columns + ovens you want + an equivalent Bosch dishwasher before you jump at it... just in case you can do as well in appliances, but better in cost.

Thank you so much for your input! I went to a showroom yesterday to see the Electrolux Icon set (the only one around Baltimore that had them on the floor!) I was really impressed with the quality and the layout. The Thermadors give up just two inches but that seems to make a difference in the layout (There are no shelves on the whole bottom half of the Therm too.)

The *only* thing that somewhat bothers me is that I wish the ice machine was in the middle like the Therm or the GE Monograms because I have two daughters who can't reach or will pull the ice down on their head, but I could always put in a second container of ice down on a lower shelf given how much space is in the freezer! We are also getting an ice machine for a wet bar but I hate to think of 8- and 10-yr old hands going in it every time they want a drink!

I've also heard good things about the Electrolux ovens and particularly like the roll-out racks which are included (and all extra for the Therm.) So, that pushes me towards the Electrolux as well.

There's a nice rebate going on right now and I'm up to three items b/c the fridge and freezer are considered separate appliances. That's an $800 discount, need to investigate a couple other Electrolux appliances (have heard good things about the bev center, wine cooler and/or ice machine. Not sure about the dishwasher vs the others) because I could get it up to $1000.

And, going with the Electrolux is certainly lower than the Therm even with the 1-2-Free deal, especially since it's not guaranteed to be the best products for my situation across the board.

Anyway, that's where I stand right now. Would love to hear more -

Absolutely love my Frigidaire set! With glass shelves and energy star, just to give you the current info.

I hear you about the ice maker. I couldn't figure why my brand new freezer kept getting brown smudges on the bottom inside edge. Then I saw that my 6yo DD was getting ice for herself by stepping up inside the freezer. Not safe, and she had "summer feet". Gross. We now have a stool near the freezer and a bin for ice on the middle shelf. No more dirty footprints!

ha! fourambles, that's EXACTLY what will happen. mine can reach the ice bucket but are going to pull it down on their head or all over the floor. I can predict it now. I was actually trying to think of a way to have a stool pull out from the bottom so I didn't have to keep kicking a stool out of the way each time I went into the freezer! But, the salesman reminded me that at 8 and 10, they won't stay small for long. :-(

Thanks for the info on the Frigidaire set! Good to know that it's glass shelves and energy star. I believe that Electrolux and Frigidaire are made by the same folks, yes? Then it just starts to come down to handles and other appliances for me.

I've had our Elux Icon all-fridge for a few weeks and I'm just loving it. I've caught dh opening the door just to watch the lights ramp up :D. I don't have the freezer yet but my 10 y.o. is 5"4" so I don't think the ice will be an issue.

I also had an Elux oven in our old house and I think I will be getting one again here, possibly even the double ovens.
