new kitchenaid dishwasher - worst ever!
Comments (47)We looked into a Bosch for our last purchase and the local dealer was too far away from us to offer us service. And we heard they don't find it easy to find parts. I should have said that I've never been comfortable with the very strong detergents and rinse agents you have to use in the dishwashers. That's another reason we went back to washing by hand. But we rarely entertain, and we have a small family but if we did have a larger family and/or we entertained often, we'd have to choose to use the dishwasher a lot more....See MoreBosch vs KitchenAid dishwasher?
Comments (26)We have had a KA DW for 8 years now. Model KUDSQ1KKSS0 (Superba model, not top of the line, but up there). We were never super happy with it. Early on it didn't clean well and I noticed that several of the holes in the sprayer arm were clogged with food particles. Turned out the grinder motor had died. Extended warranty covered it. A while back the pump also died. I was able to replace that myself at least. The top shelf also seems flimsy on the slides. It often would lean forward and roll out by itself when the door was open. It always wobbled on its slides. We also have problems with glasses coming out with grit quite often. And the four corners we don't load, since we always have issues there. Heavy wash cycle usually does a better job, and I try to use the sanitize cycle at least once a week. Been using the Finish tabs for the last four or five years. I generally use the energy saving dry cycle, which doesn't leave the dishes that dry, but I just let them air dry and it doesn't bother me. I'm surprised that drying is a big issue for many people. Last time when it stopped working, maybe eighteen months ago, had a repairman out to replace the circuit board. He said he does a lot of repairs on kitchenaid dishwashers. It is always the grinder motor, the pump, and then the door springs (which he replaced while he was here). I was suprised to hear that--even though I had experienced issues with mine, I had mostly read good experiences from others. (But I do have a 2002 model). A couple of months ago, the plastic parts on the top rack broke. These are the pieces that hold the rack up and adjust it from the lower height to the upper height. So I'm in the market for a new DW--I'm holding my upper rack together with tie wraps for now. I'm looking at the Bosch or Miele for now. I guess 8 1/2 years is pretty good for this dishwasher. New ones will be more efficient. Just want to get one that works well....See More2 Weeks With my New ASKO Dishwasher--a review
Comments (57)I'm so happy that you created this post because about 20 years ago I installed an Asko in a kitchen remodel and absolutely LOVED it! I never knew anyone else that owned one and somehow Bosch has gotten a lot of press over these years. Now I'm in a new house and hate the Bosch that came with the house and am doing a kitchen upgrade and in my search can't find hardly anything on the Asko dishwashers. I went to an appliance store and they were promoting Kitchen Aid so I was kinda going to go that route. Now with the shortage, I decided to find out about the lead time for an Asko and call different high-end appliance stores. I found a place that said they are receiving a shipment in early January. This time the lady I spoke with said that they sell many Asko's and that since SubZero/Wolf took it over many customers buy because of that connection. I was reassured after speaking with her and also this thread gave me the confidence again that I once had in Asko. It's just so strange that you don't find any comparisons or information on Asko. It's as if they are a non-player in the indutry but sounds like they are with those in the higher end world. Seriously I can't tell you how much I loved my Asko. I never had to rinse my dishes and that always impressed my guests. I mean why else do I need a dishwasher if I'm going to rinse or wash before???!!! Yay. I'm getting my Asko once again and I can't wait!! I'll try and come back here and post my experience since I'll have a fresh comparison with my current Bosch....See MoreExperiance with Kitcheaid 25 year warranty on tank rusting
Comments (22)They just referred this to product exchange department today and it will be another 3 to 5 days before I hear back from them. Apparently the parts location department didn't get very far as they put a note in the file on Jan. 5 (first business day after my last call) indicating the part number was not valid. Let’s say I was a wee bit disappointed there had been no follow up at all on this after that note was put in the file over a week ago. I would have thought someone would have at least called me or the service technician to tell them the part number was wrong! Anyways I checked the part number and it seemed correct according to an old part list I had so I asked the phone rep (CSR) to check it against a parts list and she too found the part number was correct even though their system indicated the number wasn't valid. I pointed out that this is a 22 year old part that the technician already determined was no longer available. After putting me on hold for a while to discuss with someone else there, they decided to turn it over to the product exchange to decide what to do. While I'm again in a holding pattern for a few days, I'm hopeful that this is now at the department that can resolve this....See MoreUser
