Echo PB-202 backpack blower still running strong after 25 years
Comments (30)I just wanted to post my experence with an old Echo. About 6 months ago I was given (for free!!!) an Echo PB-300E by a buddy I work with. He said it had been sitting in a barn of theirs untouched for years. His dad left it there when it became difficult to start. Well I got it and performed a general clean up of the exterior to get the grime/debris/dirt and crudd off it. Then I looked at the fuel. It looked like burnt coffee! So I dumped it then filled it about 1/4 the way full with fresh fuel and shook the crap out of it 3-4 times till the gas was clean (looked like it did from my fuel can) when I poured it out. I then removed the plug that was in it and gave it a thorough scrubbing till it looked almost brand new. I then filled it with fresh fuel and added the recommended amounts of Seafoam and also Licas upper cylinder lubricant. Reinstalled the plug, pulled out the chocke, turned the throttle to full blast and pulled the cord. It started right up! After it warned up (maybe 2 minutes) it blew some nasty nasty smoke for about another 5-7 minutes. Then I let it rip till that half a tank of fuel + additives was no more. I have been using it this entire season roughly 2 times a week and it starts first pull every time!!! It smokes for a min or two after its started at full throttle and for a min or so if at full throttle after left ideling for roughly 3-5 minutes too. The only thing I have a problem with is restarting when it's warm. Maybe I just haven't found the right combo of throttle/choke but I have tried many times and it just seems like its flooded. Any comments/ideas on that? I still have try to remove/clean the carb and I'm sure that would remedy the hot start, rather hot no start issue. I am just completely blown away with how great this old blower is and wish I could actually find some specs on it....See MoreKarndean or Konecto updates or experiences?
Comments (5)Still looking for the "perfect" flooring for our asbestos tiled basement. I did a small area (laundry room--really a large closet!) in the HD version of Konnecto last August. (It's called "Allure".) It has held up well...but the traffic in that "room" is pretty light. Particularly since there are only two of us at home now. glennsfc...I'd love to hear more about the floating vinyl flooring you saw. I hate tile... too hard. I want to do some sort of floating floor...then I don't have to worry too much about bond-busting black cut-back adhesive. I can either float the floor over the existing tile...or I can pull up the old tile and lay it over the black adhesive. Thoughts? melanie...See MoreLG TROMM update after 5 years and repair
Comments (19)Not sure if anybody from years ago is still following this forum. I totally forgot about it and could not remember my signing info so I had to re sign in and add another number 2 to my old name to get in. I just wanted to update on my now old LG washer and dryer. It is still working fine!. It is like 16-17 years old. The only little problem is, I think there is some recirculating pump that drives the water over the glass door rinsing it and that is not working but it really does not affect the cleaning. I just have to make sure the boot stays clean The regular pumping is fine. Still no rust, no smell or mildew. I still have the same washing habits. And dogs! Still using Persil most of the time. Above the glass door, where the top panel lays over the metal, it has this "lip line" like and tiny pieces of paint are missing. I guess it is from using the hot water, steam escaping. It is cosmetic. We did replace heater few years ago on the dryer-not sure if I posted it here. The set looks great and working great. I can't believe how long I have it and still going! I plan on fixing it if something goes wrong. Was looking into getting the recirculating pump but covid came and I wasn't able to get good answer on part to fix it myself. Getting service is tough so I let it go for now. LG rocks!...See MoreHome warranty-- what a scam!
Comments (37)Being forced to use the Home Warranty's "authorized servicemen" is one of the main problems I've encountered. It seems to be a major issue with many of the complaints I've read, and in my own personal experiences as well.It appears this type of company has an excellent eye for picking from the bottom of the barrel when finding their service contractors. For instance: the authorized AC "engineer" who had been assigned to my home operates from 45 miles away and has either tried to dodge my phone calls, kept me in limbo, missed appointment times etc for the last few months. On August 16th, he finally found the time to drag himself down to my house to install my new outside unit that had been ready for pick-up since August 5th. When I arrived after he'd left, the unit was leaning at a 25 degree angle, was placed about 2" away from our house, one end on the dirt, and the other on the concrete pad, was connected to the fuse box without a cap and the bare split wires exposed, plus he'd used higher powered electrical wire (60) connected to two different size and much smaller fuses! There was no insulation on the connecting pipes, and several other major issues, plus the cardboard box, the wood pallet, and all wrapping debris was all over my yard. I knew enough that from what I saw that it looked all wrong. After taking numerous pictures, I contacted my City Inspectors and they came out and said it was in no way up to code and was dangerous. Come to find out, the "authorized" service tech hadn't even applied for a license in our City to do anything, and had no intentions of doing anything else until the next day (on 8/18 - two days later) - UNTIL - I told him that I was going to contact the State of Alabama Board of Heating & Airconditioner Contractors. The man was down in less than 30 minutes... I'm ill with these people now because they have been patching (they call repairing)this unit since May, and we have been without airconditioner all summer long. I'm hot, I'm old, and I'm not putting up with this foolishness any longer. Take good pictures of work these people do - before and after - call your city for license checks, check with your State to see if shoddy AC/electrical work can be reported -write or email the BBB and file a complaint and follow through, and make sure the work they do is up to code in your State. If the Home warrenty people continue to force "their authorized repairmen" down our throats then at least make sure these repairmen do it right.
