LindaC---Grindley 'Willow' Hotel Ware?
Comments (16)I have low soup bowls like are on ebay...but in white Haviland ranson, I use them for salad and sometimes for pasta......and occasionally soup or stew. There is lots of blue willow out there that is not hotel ware. If i were you i would go to thrift stores and find pieces in shapes I can use, even if they were made in Japan....and keep looking for the Grindly Hotel ware. And "dated" is only for things that were trendy 20 years ago....good design is always good....See MoreW.H. Grindley dish

That could be a blank. There are 2 other possibilities: It was a lower cost, un-decorated offering, or is was part of a pitcher and bowl set....See MoreI have a WH Grindley 8” tall pitcher and I am curious as to it’s value
Comments (10)Hi Elaine- that’s a very pretty pitcher! I’m certainly no expert but I do collect old pottery (my oldest date from 1760s). I did a quick search on eBay to get an idea of your piece. One in a different pattern but same shape and age is offered for $16.99. It could’ve been part of a set. It could be worth more of course, especially if the pattern is rare. Lots of old pottery IME, is not very valuable - unless you’re going back 200+ years. There are exceptions, of course, and certain types of pottery go in an out of style and prices/values rise and fall. Use your pitcher as a vase perhaps, but not in the microwave (or any pottery older than, say 1970s). I believe all pottery worldwide had to have a place of manufacturing on it, as of 1891....See Morejulie825
